Wolf Among Sheep

Hayley was born to a small pack wandering the borders between Scotland and England in the year 1895. While not exactly gypsies, they did move from town to town every few years to avoid suspicions regarding their unnaturally youthful appearances and the slow aging of their children. As a pup, it was fun for her to meet new people and have new adventures but it before too long she began to feel the repercussions from the instability. Aside from her family, she had no real connection to the world and as she grew in age she began to long for that kind of greater meaning.

By 1930 she had become a young woman and the unrest in Europe felt like some kind of calling which gave her the purpose she had been wanting. She joined the military and before too long she was working in Intelligence. Whatever her missions were, she more or less keeps them secret except that she will admit she was attached to an American unit at some point after they joined the war effort.

In a time of such heightened stakes and emotions she, like so many others, found love amid the chaos. His identity is a mystery and she would rarely speak of him after but she can admit that he was her first great love, maybe her greatest love, and she was never quite the same after he disappeared. The loss of him spurred her to leave the military and search the whole of Europe for some clue as to what happened but after decades of searching, she could find only scant clues which seemed to lead nowhere. Compiling what little information she had into a small box, she decided there was nothing left for her among the humans and instead chose to find some solace in the fabled city of Atlantis.

She reached Atlantis at some point in the 1970s and more or less became a hermit living in the Chimaera district. Never really comfortable belonging to a large pack nor being familiar with the Weres already in the city, she chose something closer instead to how she grew up. Hayley tried to keep in contact with her family but a territory dispute in the 1980s with a pack from Ireland led to them being wiped out (their numbers still diminished from WWII). The loss of her kin sent her into what she refers to as her ‘dark times’ where she did little but drink, sleep around and party for decades.

Hayley is slowly coming out of those dark times but she is concerned that there is a part of her heart or soul that is broken forever. She does have a steady job even if it’s not very impressive, working part time for the office that is in charge of keeping the parks along the Promenade clean as she slowly tries to get herself together. After a particularly sad night, she decides that she should try to connect to others again and signs up for the dating app.

Personality Often cold at first, she can warm up pretty quickly to reveal her bright and bubbly personality on the inside. Silly and with a wry sense of humor, Hayley can be quite charming despite the distance she tends to put between herself and others. There is almost a back and forth with her as she struggles to decide if she is ready to let people in or of she is safer being alone.
