ven before jieqiong's birth, it would seem that the grave was already yawning at her, waiting for her, preening over her every move like vulture on it's prey. she recalls her earliest misfortune as being born with powers - or, alternatively, the most dreadful curse to be ever placed upon a child. yet, if viewed from another perspective, one would say that there was still a of luck to her birth, a thin silver lining presenting itself in the form of two functional eyes. jieqiong's mother qiyan and her two elder twin sisters huiren and jiamei, all three of them we're born completely blind. it was as if the gods were telling them:

"every human being has their own curse. pick your battles, fight them well."

jieqiong knew better than to believe her's to be any more dreadful than her mother's or sisters'. just like in the wise words of the most revered man in her life, we do not know the burden anyone carries; the best we can do is to lift it with them.

zhou huolei, jieqiong's father, was nothing short of a personal hero to her. being the only one she could count on in the family, she was closest to him, even more than she is with her sister. her sisters were bright, lively, curious, they we're the cheery sunshine to jieqiong's quiet candlelight. but huolei but much like her youngest, sharing her gift of light weilding. huolei taught her everything she knows: how to extract it, how to brighten it, dim it down, shape it into whatever she wished. 

"always remember, baobei, the purest light is right there, in your little heart. it'll always be there. the stronger it is, the stronger your magic will be."

but both jieqiong and huolei knew that the time would come where fate would catch up on both of them. she was thirteen when the government came to arrest her father for having been caught using his powers to stop a fight from arising in a local tavern.

"quite ironic, isn't it? that those who've done more good are taken away by those with evil intentions, never to do good for as long as they're locked away," zhou qiyan mused.

it was a cold night for the zhou family, especially when the situation started to dawn over jieqiong; that, from now on, she would have to be the one to take care of the family. and for four years, she did exactly that.

she stood as the pillar of their family, as her father did when he was still around. they'd never heard from him since then, and it haunted jieqiong every single day. 

but qiyan knew their home was no safe place for her. every minute she spends is another minute risking her of getting caught. and so, she urges her daughter to sign up for the academy. of course jieqiong did not want to go, she swore to take care of her family. but when qiyan revealed to her that she's already signed up the three of them for a foster home, jieqiong had no choice.

and so, with a heavy heart, she makes hr way to another country to enter the academy, with the promise of going back to take care of her family firm within her heart.

her quirk: photokinesis. it is described as the psychic ability to control light visible to the human eye. photokinetic users can generate, bend, shift, focus, scatter and/or generally manipulate light to various degrees and effects.

there are many variations to how this skill is wielded and practiced. these are such that jieqiong was mastered:

light mimicry

light mimicry is the ability to duplicate the brightness and warm of light from a certain source. 

light empowerment

light empowerment is the brightening of a chosen sliver of light, either originally or on the light source itself.

light tranaion

light tranation allows the user to morph and shape the original light into whatever shape or form they wish. 

photokinetic combat

photokinetic combat uses the skills and techniques from light manipulation to attack an opponent.

photokinetic invisibility

photokinetic invisibility functions as a cloak of light around the user, which turns them invisible from other's eyes.

color manipulation

color manipulation is fundamentally the same to light manipulation, as it uses light to adjust hue and tone.

basic summary.

jieqiong would be best described as soft, determined, passionate and headstrong. she's generally well-trusting and carefree, and is definitely the kind to randomly approach a stranger she believes is in need of help.

she has synesthesia, more specifically chromesthesia, which allows her to see sounds as colors. her eyesight isn't very perfect, and would sometimes need to wear glasses, especially in dark rooms. her veins glow a bright white when she uses her quirk.

Writing & Plotting Style

•.*★ writing style。 i usually do para to multipara, sometimes dabbling alon the lines of novella. i pefer third over first, but whichever you're more comfortable with, i'll go along too. i mirror most of the time, so don't worry about the length or pov!

•.*★ plotting style。 i like both winging and plotting equally, so we don't need a super detailed plot in order to rp. if what we have are just key ideas and points and you can work well with that too then we'll be just fine. i'm open to any plots of any genre and length BUT i won't accept plots. atm, i'm a little closed off to romance as well.

Activity & Reply Speed

•.*★ important。 please understand that i don't like to rush my replies. i like to take my time with them and they will come very slow depending on my muse. i have no set length of time between replies, you'll either get them in 20 minutes or 2 days.

poke me after 10 days. i take long but they're usually done before a week. if i dont respond within 10 days then i might have genuinely forgotten about it, please do be patient with me. i will tell you when i've lost muse for our threads and i expect you to do the same.

Location Preferences

i'd much rather rp in rooms, but if they're too heavy or something about the nature of the plots require them to be hidden, then i'll be fine with pms too. please keep my walls clean.
