•.*★ important。 Please read through Ilyana's profile before asking to roleplay; even if other parts may not have been fleshed out properly, I have at least ensured to include the important aspects of her character. For any questions/clarifications, I'd be happy to answer them in PMs!
•.*★ writing style。 Third POV, para to multi-para; depending on how much the plot has piqued me, I might go for novella, but even that is a rare occurrence. Quality > quantity; I don't always match writing lengths, just enough to get the thoughts across (that doesn't mean I skimp on threads, though!). Also, I'm not too big on writing flowery responses — please have mercy, my brain juice can't go that far.
•.*★ plotting style。 For plotting, head on directly to PMs - I also plot on Discord; if you have me on there, you can also give me a pokey-poke!
To be honest, I also like writing starters and will most times if I know what I'm doing and if it makes sense for me to do it, but don't shove them on me. I get burned out doing so at times.
•.*★ overall。 I'm very flexible about how we actually rp and will work at your pace if possible. Like, I can do one lining script all the way to novella, in both 1st and 3rd pov. I'm really chill with whatever you wanna do!
•.*★ important。 I will never poke you. Never poke me or I will ragequit/ignore you. You also don't need to remind me about me owing you a reply. I usually remember who I'm roleplaying with. Also refrain from using my activity or lack of it as an excuse to pester me about a reply. Doing like that will just annoy me and make me prolong sending something if I send something at all.
I'm usually very slow with my replies, sometimes because of the length, but sometimes because I'm just slow to do them. We can always drop/pick up our thread(s), but make sure you communicate with me. Also know that I might be active in the chat infrequently or a lot. I'm not a very consistent person when it comes to this.
Honestly, I'll roleplay anywhere I can. I like rooms, walls when I'm busy, and I'm okay with PMs. Most plots I do are public friendly too, and when they aren't, I take them to PMs.

quirk
Pathopoiesis — grants her the ability to feed off of and utilize emotional energy to form constructs, structures, and mirages of other people with varying degrees of permanence.
limitations
— Must be physically and mentally-fit when going into combat, as her life source is also connected to her ability.
— She needs to be awake/conscious in order for the ability to work; otherwise, the conjured constructs disappear.
— Constructs take time to form - delay time 1-3 minutes depending on size and how complicated the object is.
— Limited to tapping only 2 sources at one time; weapons conjured also depend on the type of emotion (e.g. whip of wrath, sword of vengeance).
weaknesses
— Empaths who can control emotions and psychics capable of mind-warping may be able to negate her quirk.
— Unable to utilize quirk when faced with non-living opponents (robots, etc.).
— Ironically, even as an empath she is unable to use her own emotions to form her weapons; or rather, she doesn't know how to.
— As she literally "absorbs" emotions from others to use as fuel to make her constructs, she tends to become overloaded and feel those emotions as well, especially if they are intense.

Infancy – the snow that fell on me, was like floss silk. Childhood – the snow that fell on me, was like sleet. — 中原 中也。
Shuhua's parents were a normal couple – well, as normal as they could get, at least. Both gifted, her mother specialized in emotion augmentation, whereas her father was an illusion manipulator. But like the rest of their kin, they were both forced to keep their abilities a secret – to yield to the norms established by those who were either scared of them, or threatened by the powers they wielded. And conform, they did. They became housewife and white-collar worker, lived within their means, kept their quirks in check – Taoyuan was a small city, after all; the inhabitants of their neighborhood alone knew everyone well enough to treat each other like family. One wrong move and the life they've worked so hard to build and maintain might collapse any time.
She arrived a few years into their marriage, their small bundle of joy, who gave them a sweet smile the moment she was placed on her mother's bosom – for the first few months of her life, young Shuhua had only known of the tenderness and affection her parents gave. And being their first and only child, it was a given that all their attention would solely be on her, protective instincts on high and offering a constant supply of love.
But, like always, good things must come to an end.
An unforeseen act, done at the wrong time with the right intentions, started the chain of events that would change the Yeh family's life: in an effort to save a child from the hands of a kidnapper, Shuhua's mother had to step in – the child lived, but without the use of her quirk, she did not survive the ordeal. Months after her death and still grief-stricken, Mr Yeh decided that it was time for them to leave Taiwan; he didn't want to live in a place that would only bring up bad memories for him and his daughter.
Korea was new, daunting, and bigger than their Taoyuan, but beautiful nonetheless. With the help of old colleagues and connections, Shuhua's father was able to secure a job as a statistician at a partner company, as well as a place where they could stay – it wasn't much, but it got them by; a tiny one-bedroom apartment was hardly a part of their problems when they had each other. When her father was at work, Shuhua was left in the care of the old landlady, who treated the child as if she were her own flesh and blood. In the end, however, it proved too much even for Mr Yeh to handle; still mourning his wife's death even in the midst of trying to adjust to their new life, he disappeared without a trace one day. Whether he was dead or alive, no one knows – not even his own daughter, who was far too young to understand the gravity of the situation.
A month short before turning two years old, Yeh Shuhua was all alone in the world. And inasmuch as the old landlandy wanted to keep the babe by her side, she was far too frail to protect her, age being an opponent she didn't want to face. With no other choice, she was forced to give Shuhua up for adoption, leaving behind a note and the bare necessities on the front door of an orphanage. "Have a wonderful life, my dear."
And a wonderful life, it was... Not.
To say Shuhua had gone to hell and back would be an understatement: it was akin to entering hell, falling down the deep, deep pit of despair, rolling in dark muck, and being choked by Satan's own hands. She wasn't given the same treatment as the other kids – she was filth personified, and her so-called caretakers made sure she knew it. The abuse stemmed from the fact that, like her parents, Shuhua had a quirk, that unfortunately started manifesting at the tender age of three. Because of this, she was isolated from the rest of her peers, usually sent to a separate room when it was their turn to play, or made to eat and sleep in the small, dark warehouse at the back of the main orphanage.
It would've been fine if the mistreatment stopped there, but no – verbal abuse was one thing, but the physical ones started when she was aged five; the head warden, "Mama" as she's called, would often beat and torture Shuhua with any object she could reach (a belt, a broken chair leg; on winters, it was a white-hot fireplace poker), all the while telling her that she didn't deserve to live, that she was "polluting the world". The other attendants would bully her, call her names, even went as far as "punishing" her by starving her for days whenever she failed to complete her assigned chores in the orphanage.
By the age of ten, Shuhua just wanted to end everything. Never mind the method; she wanted OUT.
•.*★ act two。 floating up, sinking down.
Ever passing by, water is never the same – Turbulent its flow, without the least break. — 森 鴎外。
Salvation came in the oddest form: a motorcycle.
At least, that was what Shuhua last remembered before collapsing in the middle of the street on a rainy evening, having packed whatever measly belongings she had into a bag in the dead of the night, before escaping from the hellhole she never called home. She was sure they wouldn't bother looking for her – one less mouth to feed, one less expense to worry about. That was a week ago, and at ten years old, Shuhua had already earned the pains of a war veteran. She'd just use her quirk if she had to, even if she was still a novice who only knew how to make small energy blasts, and there had been a few kind-hearted individuals who even offered her food when she was starving. But fever is a fickle thing, and the voice had just soothed her, assured her that she would be alright even if she struggled. Shuhua's instincts screamed at her to run and get lost, but her body simply refused, finally succumbing to the fatigue that wracked her juvenile body.
It seemed like days before she came to, on soft beddings, albeit in a dark room – beeping sounds? Wires? No, not the hospital, no unpleasant sterile smell anywhere. It was there where Shuhua met her saviour; Yoo Junghwan, a man in his mid-twenties, and he was – to be blunt – the next head of the Korean division of the Ruby Cobra Group, a Japan-based syndicate that was notorious for numerous trafficking schemes and high-scale money laundering. Not the best people to be associated with, but heck, what did a ten year-old know, anyway? This man had basically just saved her from life on the streets, and she was determined to repay him for what he did.
"Do you want to work for us?"
It started with rather boring errands – sending someone a message, faxing papers containing words and figures she never quite understood. Office work? Bah! She was ten years old, not some dumb invalid; yet whenever she asked Junghwan about it, he would only pat her head and smile, telling her that it's "not the time yet". Eventually, as months passed, he took Shuhua under his wing and taught her the nitty-gritty, from their clients to the inner workings of their group, even going so far as introducing her to his father (the incumbent Oya-bun at the time) who had taken immediately to the young girl.
And with that, Shuhua had quickly gone from stray runt to Yoo Soohwa, adoptive daughter of the most powerful crime family in Korea.
•.*★ act three。 no longer human.
Everything passes – that is the one and only thing that i have thought resembled a truth, in a society of human beings where i have dwelled up to now as in a burning hell. — 太宰 治。
The discovery of her quirk was quite anti-climactic; during one of Junghwan's "business trips" Shuhua had tagged along, and for the first time in her 11 years of life, she'd found her people: fellow gifted, but they weren't abused not ostracized in the slightest; in fact, they were actually using their abilities for something – not the best intention, exactly.
⸢ ⋆ ⸥ quick facts。
Generally reserved, careful, and deliberate in her actions – Shuhua is as emotionless as they come; or rather, she's cut off from her feelings because she had to do it in order to survive, so much so that it became habitual – Speaks in a deadpan tone, another reason why some avoid her (they think she's standoffish) – Always addresses people politely, regardless of age/rank – Secretive to a fault, prefers working on her own in her belief that anyone who works with her will just get themselves hurt – As a former "tool", it's still ingrained in her mind that she can be discarded once unusable, hence she's one of the hardest workers in the Academy – Developed a "savior complex" after her departure from Ruby Cobra; she doesn't want anybody else to experience what she did and will do anything to prevent that from happening – Does not get jokes, nor is she partial to them; if she does make one, it's completely unintentional – Puts a distance between herself and others, though she doesn't show signs of disliking being alone, either – In a conversation, Shuhua mostly plays the role of the good listener; she's not big on words, so she makes up for it in that way – Her eloquence when she actually speaks embodies the quality of education given to her by the very same org that turned her into a monster.

⸢ ⋆ ⸥ secrets。
The real reason behind her joining NHA; as far as she knows, only the higher-ups and her know about the whole story – The sheer amount of people she's killed – Her identity as Yoo Soohwa – Her entire Ruby Cobra Group stint – Has tried taking her life before, but did not succeed.
⸢ ⋆ ⸥ fears。
Her past catching up to her – The people around her getting hurt as a consequence of her old ways – Hospitals (associates the place with Junghwan's death).
⸢ ⋆ ⸥ vices/bad habits。
Reacting negatively to any type of surprise (first instinct is to bash the assailant's face in) – Hasn't let go of her old mannerisms from when she was still in the syndicate group (e.g. doing tasks without breaks, using intimidation on anyone doing what she deems is inappropriate) – Can be very blunt, sometimes to the point of sounding disdainful – Still thinks of herself as a "tool", a mere object that can be easily discarded – Has the tendency to lie, even with the most insignificant things – When she thinks her efforts are lacking/whenever she gets nightmares, she inflicts harm on herself and passes them off as injuries from training.

•.*★ important。 Please read my profile before asking to roleplay with me! We can brainstorm, but anything you want to know about Shuhua is in here, more or less; if you need further clarifications, I'd be happy to answer them!
•.*★ writing style。 I feel iffy about using 1st, so my writing is limited to 3rd pov only. I go for script or para, either way is fine. Length depending; I try to mirror my writing partner's, but on some days I may write lots, though I've never done novella.
•.*★ plotting style。 I prefer plotting over winging most times. If I really feel like it, I might jump in and do a winged scenario with just about anybody, but I do prefer to have a structured plot. Please, try to have something in mind before actually talking to me about roleplaying!
If we do plot, I tend to ask a lot of questions – please, don't be put off by it! This is to ensure that we're on the same page, and if you're going to be comfortable with the way I write. Starters depend on which person makes sense; if it's better to start with my pov, I'll gladly do it!
•.*★ others。 Communication is key! If you want to drop our plot/thread, please tell me so that I won't be expectant for a reply. The same goes for some details that you're not sure of if you write about my character. I'm very open to trying new ideas, so please don't be hesitant to contact me!
•.*★ important。 I'm still a student, so please understand if I take long to do replies/starters; I don't spend my life 24/7 here on RPR. Please only poke me if I haven't done anything in 10 days, yet you see me active on chats. Otherwise, please rest assured that I have not forgotten that we have a thread! I do keep a tracker for that.
PMs are strictly OOC, please keep my walls clean as well. I prefer to roleplay in rooms, with the tagging mechanism and all, but if there are no applicable rooms for our plot, only then can we use walls. If you tag me and I didn't see the notif, it's most likely because I use live chat. I refresh every few minutes though, so don't worry!
•.*★ pathopoiesis。 quirk/ability.
lit. "emotion/empathic creation"
Shuhua's quirk grants her the ability to feed off of and utilize emotional energy to form constructs, structures, and mirages of other people. These items have varying degrees of permanence, depending on her health status.
- Barrier Conjugation.
- Energy Appendages Generation.
- Weapon Enhancement.
- Scatter Shots.
- Armored Energy Exoskeleton.
- Armor/Barrier Fortification.
- Ergokinetic Cloning.
- Zap!
- Empathic Creature Summoning.
- Restraints Conjugation.
- Ergokinetic Weaponry.
- Empathic Wave Emission.
Weapons of choice:
- Connected twin katanas.
- Guns (mostly long-range rifles).
- Proficiency in melee combat.
•.*★ limitations。 what she struggles with
- Shuhua needs to be physically and mentally-fit when going into training / missions / combat; the weaker she is, the higher the chances of her conjuration to backfire.
- Needs to be awake/conscious in order for the ability to work; otherwise, the constructs disappear or lose function.
- Constructs take time to form – delay time 1-3 minutes, wholly dependent on how big and complex the object is to make.
- Needs to have a good grasp of how an object functions in order to make a perfect replica of it.
- As of late, she can only tap on a maximum of 2 sources at one given time; any more and she loses control, leading to temporary stupor.
- For Weapon Enhancement, she needs to be in contact with the weapon in question.
- Empathic Creature Summoning only works when the emotion being used is highly intense in nature; Shuhua's creature takes the form of a silver lion.
- Shuhua needs to train on expanding the scope of her Barrier Conjugation; she can cover only 14 people at most for now.
- Ergokinetic Clones last for 20 minutes, and even that short amount of time can affect her health to near-collapse.
- Zap! mostly works on a subtle level, like a small electrical zap, just that it messes with the subject's emotions for about 5 minutes. Shuhua has to be in contact with the person to be attacked for this to work.
•.*★ weaknesses。 what she stands no chance against.
- Empaths capable of emotion control and psychics capable of mind-warping may be able to negate her quirk.
- Shuhua cannot use her quirk on non-living opponents (e.g. robots, machines).
- Ironically, even as an empath she is unable to channel her own emotions to form her weapons; or rather, she doesn't know how to. This proves troublesome because there is only so much damage her body can take, even if she is highly-adept in physical combat.
- As she literally "absorbs" emotions from others to use as fuel for her quirk, she tends to become overloaded particularly if the emotion is highly fierce in nature.

It's my birthday today!
I'm 13 years old now; can't believe I've been with my new family for 3 years already. I never even imagined that I'd have one, not after that hellhole. They're not the best people, but they saved me from the streets and opened their home to me, a total stranger. I'd take them over Mama any day.
Junghwan insisted that they throw a birthday party for me, even when I insisted that spending time with him and Papa was enough.

I talked to him again.
Funny how he decided to visit me in my dreams, on the day of his 2nd death anniversary. It's been two years already, yet it seemed like it was only yesterday when I saw him take his last breath.
