Soo-hyun | 23 | 1/3 Dragon | Demiual
Biography

Soo-hyun Kim, princess by birth and warrior by virtue, her story is one that starts in a far away land months before she came into this world, silent as a lamb with a pecliar and concerning deformity.

The queen of Evroumore was always a superstitious woman and she believed anything her trusted consultant uttered. When the man, a dabbler in the Dark Arts, suggested partaking in the albumen of a dragon's egg in the early stages of her pregnancy, the queen agreed without batting an eye. If it promised a healthy babe, the woman would do anything and, happy to comply with his wife's wishes, the king sent a band of knights out to retrieve one of the creature's eggs. None of them would have been able to predict the consequences that would arise upon the soon-to-be-princess's birth.

Soo-hyun was born in the winter, near the end of the first month, with no obvious defects. She cried, but not much. She had all of her limbs. The problem, however, lie in one of those limbs. The baby girl's hands were balled up tight, but there was no mistaking the green iridescent scales that covered her left ring finger. Horrified by the gastly defect, the queen spent the majority of her time trying to get rid of the claw. When around anyone other than her parents, Soo-hyun was forced to wear gloves. The queen's attempts were all fruitless and she even resulted to trying to scrape the scales off, a very bloody and painful ritual that happened at least once a month. Soo-hyun continued to suffer her mother's schemes until one day in her ninth summer.

She was playing out in the courtyard when a massive dragon appeared, putting the castle in a frenzy. Only, the beast was gone as quickly as he appeared. It was until everyone calmed down that they realized the princess was missing. Kidnapped by the dragon whose scales perfectly matched those on her fourth finger. Soo-hyun had initially been very afraid of the beast, but one mentally projected explanation sated her fear. Within her, she carried the blood of the dragon's only child -- one he'd lost to knights nearly a decade before. Not malevolent in any sense, at least not to her, the dragon raised Soo-hyun for the next two years. She lived happily and even learned to love the claw she was taught to hate, until the day that disaster struck.

Still a child, Soo-hyun wasn't able to stay still in the cave she'd come to know as her home, so she often went out to explore the mountains in which it was situated. Every day, she challenged herself to go further and further. On this day, she'd gone her farthest and returned home later than usual. When she got there, she found the dragon she'd come to see as a father slain, a sword with a familiar crest lodged into it's heart.

Betrayed and with nowhere to go, the young girl grieved and cried over the body for days until a band of nomadic warriors happened upon her cave. Their hearts bled for the savage-looking child and the chief took her in as one of his own, making her the daughter of the warrior tribe. No new starts are ever easy, but she eventually managed to feel ease among them. Over the next ten or so years, Soo-hyun would come to know thiS tribe of warriors as her new family, especially her six brothers. Through her found family, Soo-hyun learned martial arts, the way of the sword, and mastered archery. Today, she holds a sparring streak of over a hundred wins to just a handful of losses. Much like the dragon, Soo-hyun is astute, powerful, and very sure of her strength.

All happy things, they say, must come to an end and Soo-hyun's tribe was met with tradgedy when they decided to settle temporarily in the woods, about a day's trip outside of a city called Canterbury. An enemy kingdom's men mistook them for the king's soliders and set fire to and ransacked their camps while they slept. Tents were destroyed, supplies were reduced to ash and dust, animals were lost, but—most importantly—a majority of the small tribe was killed. Even though many of them escaped, most of that band succame to injury. Only Soo-hyun, a couple of her brothers, and a fallen brother's child managed to see the next morning alive and they moved behind the safe walls of Canterbury to start their lives anew.

Personality

Soo-hyun is a very confident, competent, and competitive person. Despite being well past the typical age for marriage, Soo-hyun is unspoken for because she challenges all of suitors to sparring matches. Should they win, they get her hand. Should she win, she gets something precious from them. She has yet to lose any suitor battles, so she's happily unmarried with a chest of treasures.

In the meantime, she continues to fight every one of her own battles and commits her life to protecting dragons and those left of her tribe, even if she has to live quietly and help run their worldy treasures shop. With her insatiable taste for travel and adventure, Soo-hyun is always apart of the party that goes travelling to find new wares. Occasionally, she's been known to take up quests requested of those who cannot go on their own. She'll do almost anything to have that nomadic lifestyle again, even if for a short time.

Despite her ability to take care of herself, Soo-hyun is held in very high regard by the men in her family. They know that she could easily kill a man, but treat her like precious china in comfortable settings. She has her soft, gentle side but when in the heat of battle, Soo-hyun often gets this firey look in her eyes, earning her the byname Oculi Draco, or Lóng zhī yǎn.
plots
The blood of the covenant | M/F | Open
Soo-hyun has been a part of her ragtag band of outcasts since she was 11 years old. Her happiest years were spent with them in an environment where she isn't ridiculed for her claw. She was able to learn things that she could never learn in a million years with her biological parents. She's especially close to her adoptive brothers and they can find enjoyment in even the most menial of tasks, including hunting, competing to sell wares, and scouting an area before setting up camp. (Very very open for interpretation/further discussion. You must be one of the few leftover members of her tribe.)
The water of the womb | M/F | Open
Soo-hyun has been away from her birth family for 14 years, and assumed dead for 12 of those. In short, it's safe to say that someone wouldn't recognize her. She prefers it this way, not wanting to be affiliated with the people that treated her like some sort of experiment for the whole of her time being with them. With her nomadic lifestyle, Soo-hyun has been all over the lands and hasn't been anywhere near the palace. Nor has she had any lasting or significant runins with any other Kim folk, but things can change in an instant. (Very very open for interpretation/further discussion. You must be a member of her birth family.)
The suitor | M | Open
Soo-hyun often challenges the men that ask for her hand in sparring matches. If they win, she will marry them unquestioningly. If she wins, she gets a precious relic from them. Soo-hyun has yet to lose any battles, as proof of the medium chest of treasures she keeps with her things, and her battle with you is no different. Only, you don't give up so easily and make it your mission to stick around until she agrees to at least give you a chance. Soo-hyun's stubborn, but she's not going to pass up an opportunity for some temporary amusement. (Doesn't have to end in romance!).
The name that precedes | M/F | Open
Oculi Draco. A name spoken on the wind. A name belonging to one of the world's fiercest warriors. Through numerous retellings of the stories that come with the name Oculi Draco, mistakes have been made and details have been skewed, so by the time it gets to certain people, they assume this great fighter to be a large, ravenous warrior of the reptilian race. Imagine ones surprise when they come face to face with Oculi Draco and she looks just like any other human woman.
The dragon keeper | M/F | Open
As they get older, dragons get more and more dangerous. So, even though it hasn't done anything yet, you're chosen by your village/king/queen to go and slay the rather young beast living in the nearby mountain. You eventually stumble upon Soo-hyun who is foraging for her camping tribe. You explain your quest, asking if there’s room to spend the night, which Soo-hyun readily offers. Her people were always incredibly hospitable and accepting that way, she wouldn't change things now. In the middle of the night, you wake to find Soo-hyun leaving camp, headed in the direction of the dragon's keep.
The general plot | M/F | Open
In her many travels, Soo-hyun has come across a great deal of people from all walks of life. Some relationships are pleasant and others not so much. (General plot, just means we can come up with something neat together~)

ooc notes
01. i definitely prefer plot over wing and PMs over wall so I can keep track of it all. i do expect some cooperation when it comes to plotting as well. i want us to have a plot that we're both happy with. otherwise, it's no fun for someone. if you don't like something/something doesn't work with your character, tell me and i'd do the same.
02. i prefer 3rd, paragraph but nothing incredibly long. two or three solid ones are perfectly fine.
03. reply speed varies because i like to give my best and i might be held up with school stuff or just not having an idea of what to say right away. (i'm a senior and i'm working on my thesis along with many other writing/linguistics-based classes, so sometimes writing for rpr is just hard because i get burnt out.) you don't have to poke me, i'm literally always thinking about it when i haven't replied and i promise to get back to you.
04. if you feel like we need to work out some kinks, get back on track, or completely overhaul because the plot is straying or dying a bit, tell me! i'd do the same for you. we can figure it out together. team work makes the dream work, my dudes.
05. i don't plot budding romance, that has to come naturally between our characters. however, if it's something in the past or already established, that's fine by me. any that happens should NEVER be with minors.
06. finally, when it comes to starting, i don't do any of that "you ask, you start" stuff. if it makes sense for the plot to start with a certain character, that's who should start.
