go ara was born to an incarcerated father and a mother who raised her with the money she earned from working overtime shifts at an electronics factory. she spent most of her growing up years being cared for by neighbours and her paternal grandparents. her maternal grandparents passed before she was born. growing up, she tried her best in school, knowing that it was her only chance at giving her family a better life.

she was a beautiful girl and was scouted at an early age and became a breakout star at the age of 18. to cover up her piteous past, her agency created a fake profile for her, telling the public she was raised in acirema and had only recently returned to aerok to pursue her dreams. ara became wildly popular and was on every channel in aerok. but at the age of 24, she fell pregnant to her abusive manager and then boyfriend. in her desperation, she sent the child away as soon as she was born. her name was go sooeon, her mother’s beautiful shame.

finally escaping from the clutches of her ex manager meant having to strike a deal with her agency. she had to work more for less and if she wasn’t agreeable, they would threaten her with sooeon. for the safety of her daughter and her own livelihood, she persevered on. by the time sooeon was three, she was exhausted and left with nothing but the shell of her past self. she could care less about having to smile at every person she met or sweet talk every director she had to shake hands with. that was when gossip about her diva attitude started.
