chapter one; the moon's child.
The Sheng family, the Moon Warriors... a terrifying moniker given to a long line of Alphas who perpetuated the warrior lines, was a family to look up to. Of noble upbringing and exclusitivity, the Sheng family were known for being warriors that were top of line, strong, steadfast and ruthless. Beautifully ruthless. The head of the family, Li Jie Sheng, was one of the most regarded and respected warriors. His family put up the strong front for the Lunar clan. He married Li Na soon after the war started. The two were an arranged engagement, yes, but Li Jie was so taken with Li Na's beauty that he could not see his life without him. The wedding was during a New Moon, blessed by the Goddess herself with the light of a million stars shower. The union was successful and the two grew together in harmony.
A year after the marriage, screams of pain rang through the Sheng compound. Li Na was giving birth. Li Jie, excited for the birth of his first child, was quick to label the child.
"My Alpha son."
"He will be the sttongest warrior to have ever graced the Sheng name!"
"I will teach him how to become the greatest Lunar warrior."
While Li Na was more than happy to oblige his husbands whims, he knew that the child he carried was much more than this world deserved. But pain struck him during his eighth month of pregnancy and the doctors were quick to act. "We need to induce an emergency pregnancy. You need to go to the hospital." Li Na refused. Natural births were common within the Sheng family; they proved the strength and honour of the Omegas, also proving their worth to their mates. Li Na carried through with the birth.
The Full Moon shined down upon the expecting mother, his sweat shining in the light as his skin glowed. Pain coursed through his body as he pushed and pushed and pushed, egged on by his husband who stood by his side the entire time. Hands clasped together they greeted the newborn with smiles and tears only to realize....
"He is stillborn," the doctor announced, looking at the porcelain child with horror. Perpetuated in a painting, eyes closed, skin ghostly. The baby was quiet as the parents wept. How could this happen? Why had the Goddess forsaken them? Were they not good enough?
Dalnim wept that night. She had blessed the family with a child who would hold a secret. But the child was born quiet. The legend says that the moon wept violently. So much so that hail and rain poured down upon the Earth. Dalnim disappeared from the sky and the home was blanketed in darkness. Sadness overcame the family as the Sheng wolves howled for reprieve. And Dalnim listened. She, herself, searched for the soul of the boy, finding him bathing in the Lake of Life.
"The pain your family endures is strong," she whispered to him, cloaking him in her light and warm embrace. "You are now connected to me. A part of me. Come now, Moon Child. You must fulfill your duty to your family." The boy followed. The warmth and love perpetuated in his bones brought him back to life.
Within moments the childs skin began to glow, silver hair wrapping him in his legacy. Light blue eyes as crystal clear as the Lake opened and screams of Life rang through the compound. It is said that the rain and hail stopped, the moon beaming in the sky and the blessed light shined down upon the Sheng family. The family rejoiced with screams of happiness, tears of joy and howls of harmony.
Dalnim covered their child and bathed him in moonlight. The child was blessed with the name "Yue", after the family prayed and gave blessings to Dalnim and Dalnim would love the human embodiment of Her.
As the boy grew up his father ensured that Yue would be brought up with the best education and the strictest of regiments. While the boy was happy to oblige in his father's demands he knew that he was destined for something more. Since he was born his eyes would see things others could not. The after life touched him and settled in his bones. He could see those who had joined the Goddess. While he tried not to say anything, he knew that the position his father put him in was not one he would occupy.
Yue was brought up in the military regiem. He was taught several military tactics, mastered a number of combat techniques and had become a master at a handful of deadly arts. All in preparation for the day he presented as an Alpha.
When Yue was 13 he finally presented. But not the way his family thought he would. Or, more accurately, not the way his Father thought. The Full Moon was his downfall that night. The compound filled with the scent of the Queen of the Night flower and Jasmine. Something not usually associated with Alphas. Li Jie's first instinct was to snarl and growl at the whimpering boy cradled in his mother's arms.
"You are no son of mine!" He growled, teeth sharpening as Li Na used his body to shield his son. "The moon cursed me with you."

chapter two; the cursed child.
and so the boy lived in fear of his father. Every passing day was a testament to his strength and willpower as a member of the Sheng family. Not only was the boy a master at and worthy of the warrior moniker, he also was given the divine gifts of mysticism. He could fortell the future, dance with being of the past, look into the after life and was able to walk amongst the spiritual realm. But what plagued the boy the most, and kept him awake at night, were the constant visions of death. Only li na knew of yue's gifts. He knew the struggle that his beloved child was going through. He knew that yue's visions were so strong that it would render the boy paralyzed in fear.
But as those visions grow, so did yue and his beauty. It was not uncommon for the sheng family to grow out their hair to ephemeral proportions, the entire lineage donning the long hair look giving them an almost ghostly look. Long, moonlight white hair that ran down his back in silky tendrils. The lightest of blue eyes that changed colour depending on the position of the moon. Skin as soft and white as fresh porcelain that seemed to sparkle at all hours of the day and night. Lips plush and tinted a soft rose hue. His body seemed to take on the very embodiment of Dalnim. While the mystics were quick to praise the goddess herself for the blessing that was yue, his father turned a blind eye to his son.
Heartache would soon find yue when he was gifted with a vision of his mother's death.
On the eve of his 16th birthday, yue rushed to his mother's side. Li na was struck down by an unknown illness even the mystics and healers couldnt heal. "My sweet boy," he whispered, taking hold of his son's cheek, "never forget that you are forever loved. First by the moon, and i was blessed to hold her child within me. I will always love you."
Yue had seen it coming. The plague setting into his mother's bones. Watched as it grew and darkened his life force. The only person who truly held yue in the gentlest of manners. He watched as his mother passed each day with this sickness and he was helpless to help.
Yue sobbed at his mother's bedside while the wolves howled into the night. The light of li na went out gracefully and soon enough the compand blanketed itself in darkness. The matriarch was gone. For the first time yue screamed, his celestial powers going haywire as his father looked on in horror.
Grabbing the boy by the collar of his robe, li jie dragged him from his mpther's side, ripping the child from the only person who grounded him, and threw him out into the hall. "Had Dalnim not cursed me with you, i would still have the love of my life."
The door was shut on yue.
Sobbing and curled into a ball, the sadness and pain blooming within him perpetuated the visions of death. Dalnim had cursed him? Had she really? Were those words a lie?
Months passed as yue sat in his room, mourning the loss of his mother. Months passed and every day a new vision would make itself known. The pain of death cursed him. While Dalnim tried to calm him, to quell his anger, she never could. It was when he was 18 that dalnim shared with him a secret.
Puberty behind him, it wss time for him to meld himself with her again. "You must bathe in the water of life at your family temple," she whispered to him, holding the crying boy for the umpteenth time. "Come back to me. I will ensure your safety, my love. You are my night flower. The most loved amongst the Lunar children. Come back to me and ground yourself."
And he did. That night, under the full moon, yue would find himself disrobing under the moonlight, icy blue eyes staring at the glittering pond of water in the middle of the temple. He allowed the silk material to pool at his feet before stepping into the water. The mystics looked on in wonder as they watched water engulf the boy. He would disappear for a moment as the moonlight made the water glow. The light was so strong some mystics said they had been blinded by the light.
The water was warm. The water was light. It caressed the submerged boy in a calming manner. the visions stopped. For once he was purely grounded. "This is where you belong," the goddess spoke, "the world does not deserve a soul like yours, but i would not be selfish and allow you to join me just yet. You have a purpose, my dear one. Its time to fulfill it. The path you are on is long and filled with turmoil. The one who will bring you light is the one who will ground you." The loving embrace of dalnim was hard to tear himself away from. Why would he want to live in a world where he was plagued with visions of death? What purpose could he fulfill?
When he emerged from the water, it is said that the light in the pool filled Yue's body, making him glow like the moon herself. He was emboldened by a vision then; slipping on his robe he tied the sash around him and set on with the fruition of his vision. He had come to find out that ignoring his visions would only plague him with pain. Nature must take its course, yes, and when its ignored nature becomes very upset.
That night yue walked into the compound and challenged his father to a moonlight dual. The dual, to the sheng family, would be the match that determined the next head of family. His father, enraged by the thought of being challenged, accepted.
"I have already disowned you, cursed child," he snarled, slamming his fists on his desk, "you will not be the next head of this family."
Yue looked at his father with an emotionless gaze, icy blue eyes swirling with something much more dark. "I don't intend to," he whispered before leaving, shutting the door gently behind him.

chapter three; the powerful child.
yue was 20 when the moonlight dual was scheduled. Two years. He had two years to calm himself. To redirect that anger he felt and put it all into his training. Yue had grown uo to be a beautiful fighter. Unflinching and unweilding, the sheng ancestors would have been proud. He had become an exemplary swordsman, not to mention an excellent hand-to-hand combat master. He was most notable known for the style in which he fought. He is very, very light on his feet. Eerily so. He seems to almost dance around his opponents and strike them down with deadly accuracy. His concentration had become unearthly as he weilded his weapons. The warriors looked on in horror at the beauty yue had set forth in his fighting. His father? Would have been proud if not for the fact yue was an omega.
The day of the moonlight dual came upon them faster than Li jie had originally thought. but yue was ready. the two stood on the battlefield of their compound, the moon goddess as their witness.
"your mother would be sorely disappointed to know that you challenged me, boy," li jie sneered, brandishing his sword. the metal glittered ominously as he pointed it at yue.
"mother knows what is to come," yue whispered, his own sword pointed to the ground in a peaceful manner. a sign that yue still held respect for his own father. "the goddess has seen what is to come. i am obliged to fulfill it."
taken aback by the astounding calm in yue's voice, li jie laughed boisterously. "oh? is that supposed to scare me, boy?"
without a second though, yue raised his blade, the sharpened edge turned outwards to face his father as he looked at the older man with an almost saddened expression. "give my love to mother when you see her, father."
the battle ended in li jie gasping for air on the ground. his hand gripping his side as his white robes stained red with his blood. yue was spotless as he approached his fallen father, blade held down at his side. in that moment, his eyes turned red as he took in the beaten visage of his father. "child of the moon," li jie gurgled, choking on his own blood, "have mercy on me, for i knew not what i was doing."
those words fell on deaf ears as yue stood above his father. "i am no longer the boy you knew, father. i am no longer yue. from this day forward i will call myself yan and you will die knowing that the moon blessed you with a son like me. now go forth onto the Lake of life. find mother. reunite. dalnim will have mercy on your soul."
with his last breath it is said that li jie smiled. knowing that the moon had blessed him with such a strong son who would head the house of sheng was a blessing in the end.
yue, going forth as yan, had performed a sacred burial for his father. the mystics within the sheng family were dispersed and yan created a new moniker for the house of sheng; the house of the moon. for where yan dwelled, dalnim also lived.
the year following the death of his father, yan had almost completely disappeared from the lunar clan. he left his compound in search of a safe place to dwell away from his clansmen and found himself ever growing in the light and love of dalnim. he was a thing of beauty and the ghost enigma had stuck. yan was a ghost to the lunar clan, never really appearing in public. but tales tell of a cloaked figured bathed in moonlight. some say he is just a figment of their imaginations, others believe that it is indeed dalnim walking amongst them. nevertheless, yan's visions of death are much more powerful than he first thought.
those who believe in him would seek him out and ask for fortunes to be told. the ranked officials within the clan knew how to contact yan without raising suspicion. he is known for his terrifyingly accurate predictions and almost eerily spot on fortunes. while this works wonders with people on the outside, yan can never seem to tell his own fortune. when he tries to look into his own future it always turns up blank.
it does little to deter him from his path, but it does strike him as odd. how is he able to foretell other people's lives but not see his own?
"you are a terrifying beauty," dalnim once told him, "your visions are to serve your clan. your time will come once you connect with the person whom will ground you."
a mate. but did yan really believe in such things? how could anyone love someone like him? yan could not see himself in love. let alone believe anyone could love him. thus, he spends his days tiptoeing between the spiritual realm and the world his body inhabits, passing the days bathed in moonlight and wearing it like the finest of lingerie. he praises the goddess with his entire being and while his rituals would seem , they are entirely to appease the goddess who loved him, who saved him, who continues to grow with him.

chapter four; the free child.
in the present day, yan lives his life like a hermit. he prefers being alone and would very much like to keep it that way. he has a set routine to his daily life and finds the trivial notions of other people a bit too much. there is something special about the moon spirit who finds freedom in solitude. nature and the night blanket his home as he praises the goddess for keeping him safe.
while he does go out, rarely, he always does so wrapped in a black robe. his unearthly beauty tends to draw the gazes and murmurs of the people around him and he would rather not draw any attention to himself in that manner.
You will ever rarely find him amongst the crowds. But he does stick to his traditions. Those who seek him out and find him are the ones granted with the knowledge of the future. He keeps to his strict regimen of daily mystic practices and spirit walking, all to ensure his communication with the blessed mother is open and wide. Every full moon he will travel back to the desolate compound, to the temple that the mystics still care for, and bath under Dalnim's watchful eye.
"Those who seek you out shall be blessed with your cursed visions."
