Yibo is a Pokemon Trainer aspiring to be a Pokemon League Champion.
He was raised by a single mother and known as "the asthma kid" all his life. Bullied into thinking that his father left him and his mother because of his weak body, he developed a masculinity complex and constantly feels the need to prove himself. He is closed off an antisocial and has anger issues because of the constant bullying in his childhood. Yibo believes that he does not need human friends, as his Pokemon partners' companionship and power are all that he needs to prove himself to everyone else around him. He is now embarking on a journey to collect the 8 badges that will earn him entry into the Pokemon League, where he hopes to defeat the reigning champion and show the world his true power.
His primary partner is Piplup. Piplup was the leftover starter choice at the lab because of is smaller left fin, which many other starting trainers deemed to be a deformity and setback. Yibo chose Piplup without a second thought, and the two of them believe in overcoming their adversaries together.
