There's nothing really remarkable about Meiqi's past. Growing up as the only child to a somewhat wealthy Chinese couple, the young female had lived a rather comfortable and quiet life, surrounded by people who adored her. Doted on by her parents, they tried their best to pull the timid girl out of her shell, offering all different kinds of activities for her to choose from in hopes that their daughter would start to befriend other kids with the same interests.
Much to their joy, the little girl did show interest in music and dance, eventually asking her parents to send her to ballet classes. It was there that she started to become more outgoing and confident, perhaps a little bit too confident actually. Surrounded by the things she loved, Meiqi quickly opened up, the dream of becoming a famous dancer soon taking roots in her mind.
Ever since then Meiqi has been steadily working towards that dream, attending a famous dance academy where she slowly started to venture into different dance styles, from traditional Chinese to Hip Hop, street dance, even dabbing into contemporary dance, all just to further refine her dance skills. Soon enough her efforts started to pay off as she became a regular representative during dance shows and competitions of her academy.
It was through those competitions that her name started to become more and more known among dancers and entertainers which slowly but surely landed her jobs as background dancer. Standing there on stage, the crowd cheering beneath her, for the first time in her life she felt her heart flutter. And in that very moment, Meiqi knew that she wanted all that for herself. Joining a talent agency in China was only the first step towards that goal.
At the age of 15 Meiqi was sent to Seoul to train under a joint program of her agency and a South Korean entertainment company. Receiving vocal classes, acting classes, anything a future idol would need, she travelled between both countries as she was still booked for different activities in her home country. Slowly working her way up, Meiqi reached another peak when being casted as one of the lead characters for the 6th installment of the 'Step Up' franchise. Seeing how well Meiqi was received as an actress, her company kept pushing her towards that career path, ignoring her initial wishes of focusing more on music. Constant fights with her management became a daily occurance, quickly draining her emotionally until she reached that one point where she had to decide what she really wanted in life.
So when the CEO of DSF reached out to her, promising to find a way to terminate the contract with her current agency while promising her a shiny future as famous girl group idol, Meiqi didn't hesitate to agree at all, knowing that this would finally be her chance to achieve her dreams.
