jisoo has a ruthless side to him hidden beneath a thin layer of calmness. while he presents himself as a gentle, soft-spoken man to strangers, it isn't too hard to get into his bad side. he shows no mercy to those who speak ill of him or his loved ones — and even takes pleasure in seeking revenge and giving them what they deserve. he prides himself in the arts and refuses to acknowledge others to be better than him.

if you are on his good side, however, he will be extremely loyal to you. he will make sure that no one can harm his loved ones and he will go through extreme measures to ensure their wellbeing. however, this can be quite rare, especially in a romantic sense. jisoo fears commitment and is more likely to push people away when they start getting attached to him, or even the other way around. however, this does not stop him from being friendly and sociable to new people.

hong jisoo knows that he has lost two people in his life.

the first person he has ever lost is the mysterious figure he sees every night in his dreams. it always starts with him running down a hill, arms outstretched as if he's reaching for something. at the foot of the hill is someone he could never recognize no matter how many times he's witnessed the exact same scenario in his sleep. time is ticking, he would tell himself, although he doesn't know why. all he knows is that he needs to reach them before it's too late.

but it would always be too late. jisoo could only watch them morph into a laurel tree helplessly. then he would beg to the heavens above to undo the curse, whatever that meant. and then he would wake up with tears brimming on his eyes and a sharp pain on his chest, which eventually diminished into a mere dull ache as he started to get used to the dream. call him delusional, but jisoo believed that it might have been a lover from his past life.

the second person he has lost is someone from the waking world ― the only person he'd grown to cherish, so to speak. jisoo is a painter, but he wouldn't have been one if it weren't for him. he had taught jisoo the beauty of turning a blank canvas into a mirror of the world around him ― a mirror of beautiful people and things and everything that makes the world colorful.

so jisoo painted with the brightest, most vivid shades of yellow and gold, because despite his nightmares, the world was a happy place ― and perhaps it would have remained that way if fate hadn't been cruel to them.

the world since then has lost its color. jisoo tried to trick himself into thinking that he has moved on, but his grief ended up bleeding into his artwork. the once vivid shades of colors in his paintings have been muted into dull, monochromatic across the canvas. the world he sees right now is black and white. jisoo could not bring himself to use the same bright colors he had used when he was alive.

his reputation as an artist had been tarnished due to the sudden shift in his style, and jisoo himself was not satisfied with his works, so he decided to go on an impromptu vacation. he had no aim whatsoever ― he just wanted to get away from the now monochromatic and hideous world.

the next thing he knew, he was standing in front of the gates of an unknown place. he didn't know how he got there or how it was somehow brought into existence, but he felt a wave of calm washing through him as he landed a foot beyond the border. the place was called moirai city, and it seemed to beckon him with every step he took. he settled in the city not too long after, hoping that he could at least find happiness for himself.

and maybe, just maybe ― he could bring the colors back into his paintings one day.
