due to moros' duty who drives mortals to their deadly fate, it was thought that moros should experience it once for himself. therefore, he was given jongup. his family owned and operated their own restaurant until his parents buckled under the weight of financial pressure to take a loan from an organized crime syndicate in the area to not lose their restaurant. as the interest was extremely high, they naturally fell victim to their ploys. one night, his parents went missing and left jongup as a young boy and his older brother as a teenager behind. his brother became a thug to make ends meet for himself and his brother, yet he also grew to be selfish despite how much the older brother cared for jongup. even still, his older brother would frequently be gone for extended periods of time, and once he grew older jongup realized he couldn't live like this--but he wouldn't betray his family like his older brother did for joining them. therefore, he instead works as a police officer taking bribes, living out of the otherwise abandoned restaurant with his parents' shrine. he also is afraid to move in hopes his older brother would someday return, yet remaining in the same place also keeps him as an easy, accessible target to any of his brother's enemies--leaving jongup to defend himself from both the law and criminals alike.
