chapter one — growing up, zena hadn't necessarily been sheltered, but her parents held true to the airbending tradition of seeking peace and harmony. this led to growing up away from the violence of the surface, hardly knowing of the horrors that had occurred in the past and caused the situation she was now currently living in.

the sun was seemingly a mere myth talked about in books of history that sounded more like horrific fables. zena knew little to nothing about the surface, although she had heard whispers through the other kids at school. rumors of what lurked above the home they all knew and loved, but young zena tried not to pay them any mind. her parents would surely tell her about it if it was something she needed to be prepared for.

that day never came. she lost her parents around the age of thirteen before they could fill her in about the truth of why they lived beneath the ground in bunkers, hidden away like that snacks she would sneak into her bedroom when she couldn't sleep. she's unsure of what truly happened to her parents. one day they were saying they'd be home soon and the next she had their tribe leader knocking at her door to deliver the bad news.

chapter two — unfortunately, she had been moved from her childhood home into a group home with other kids that suffered the same misfortune as her. she wouldn't call it an orphanage because the rest of the tribe did help to raise and take care of them, but it was much different than the isolated like she had been living with her parents. She began to learn more about the darkness of their history now that she didn't have her safety blanket, and she was horrified. Throughout her teenage years, she felt this mix of wonder and disbelief, because how could a place possibly be so cruel?

Despite knowing that the surface was somehow connected to her parents' disappearances, zena still held onto the beliefs of the air benders that her parents had passed down to her. The Air Nomads detached themselves from worldly problems and concerns; finding peace and freedom was the key to solving their difficulties in life. Airbenders continually sought spiritual enlightenment, so that's what she did as well.

present day — now zena spends her time a little ways away from the other air benders, choosing a life of solitude rather than clinging to the group she had always grown up with. they were all beginning to venture out and start their own families, so she figured it was about time she started doing things for herself as well.

her tiny home on the edge of non-bender and air bender territory served as a little cottagecore haven for herself. she worked as a florist out of her home, barely using her bending as it wasn't really needed and she did know of the dangers of living so far apart from the others. her customers were benders and non-benders alike, so it was best for her to just fly under the radar as much as she possibly could. she tended to her garden outside and within her greenhouse when the weather would start to get chillier. she didn't really have any complaints about her living situation as she had found her own little area of peace.

 

 

 

 

about me — zena is a very go with the flow type of person. she adapts well to change and doesn't really have any complaints about having to do so. she's very flighty and bubbly, though, so she often gets taken advantage of if she encounters the wrong type of people. she always believes in the good of people and if she gets betrayed, she doesn't really ever expect it. even in those situations, though, she's very mildly tempered and hardly ever gets mad.
