➢ persephone was reborn from relations that his dragon father had with a hydra, and he was marked as a result. the bad relations shared by hydra-kind and dragon-kind made any crossbreed of the two a cultural taboo, and persephone was the first to be born in centuries. it put a mark on him and a target on his back, his parents killed when he was still a small child, leaving him to run from those who wanted him dead without adults to protect him. 

➢ persephone was found by a man named octavius kelen, an elemental (and, as persephone would later learn, a mafia boss). with octavius as his stand-in father, persephone grew up intelligent and business-minded, taking business and music classes in university and graduating with a master's in business and a doctorate in music (because he was always an overachiever). 

➢ growing up he also had memories of life as persephone, so he knew who he was. 

➢ after graduation, persephone started to go by the name chrysanthi and focused all of his energy into kelen, and over time, he began to surpass octavius' biological son in terms of capacity and loyalty. he was well-liked by other members of kelen, and despite the things that were expected to hold him back, persephone flourished. on his deathbed octavious named persephone his heir, and this caused a conflict between persephone and the boss' son, in which persephone was the victor of a battle to the death. 

➢ he also fed a former friend to wild animals because the man tried to kill him.
