It was pure devastation. The only family he had ever known, in piles and piles of bodies under the great ruin of his homeland. How could fate be so cruel as to leave him breathing, but barely alive under the pretense of consciousness? As he stood there, face devoid of emotion and almost every inch of his tattered skin tainted with either the blood of his brethren or the soil of the earth, he could only muster a fragmented scream as it echoed through the silence of death. The only memory he would have is a locket around his neck, gifted by his deceased lover.

He was a pureblood prince, and then he was nothing. His clan was meant to thrive, but now all of that was gone in just a second.  And though the creature craved to end it all, he made a promise to rebuild their family in the memory of his loved ones.

A few days of grief, and another week of picking up the tiny little dusts of will before he moved on — leaving behind the stench of destruction, and his peace of mind with it. Name changed in fear of being hunted, the immortal fed and travelled through towns until he settled in a little place called Acarna where he settled for the next few centuries.

Mingyu survived through the years similarly, adapting to each era and never really revealing his age to avoid questions. He witnessed the changes in power, the destruction and rebuilding of homes and yet nothing managed to invoke any feelings in the empty shell of his existence. He fed on humans scarcely, to keep a low profile and kept out of the public's view unless needed. Bonds were prohibited, but Mingyu barely even felt anything as it was with his shattered soul, so it wasn't a hard rule to follow.

He lives through the same day each time he rests, and so the vampire prefers to keep awake until he's forced to let his body rejuvenate. He goes for weeks at a time, but as soon as he knocks out, he's left to the destruction of his mind in his subconscious.

He found solace in Ares about 400 years later, appreciating the boss' sentiment of rewarding hard work and loyalty. He more than swiftly rose to second-in-command, settling comfortably just barely 5 years in. Now, Mingyu kills like it's routine, and he would be lying if he said he didn't enjoy it. Raven, they call him — one of the best, if not already the best assassin you could hire. He creeps in the dark of night and leaves no trace except a single black feather in his wake to prove his job done. You'd be lucky to catch him and stay alive.
