brief background ; rhys has lived a completely 100% normal life from his birth to the present. he grew up in a loving family as an only child of two lower middle class parents, was steadily the top in his class all the way up through high school and is now on track to earn a degree at a top canadian university. he's currently participating in a year of foreign study at a university in the city, which explains why he's so far away from home. it's a completely new experience for rhys who has never been this exposed to the supernatural before, but he welcomes it with open arms. [ the true character: rhys believes that he is a regular human being. in reality he is the crucible and the codex (an ancient tale of a book with the information of every lifeform on the planet, and whoever has control of this information has the ability to create and destroy life as we know it) - inside of him is the biological code for every human and non-human creature on this green earth, which he is completely unaware of. for whosoever is freely given the heart of the crucible will have access to the codex, making them the most powerful being in current existence. it's only a matter of time before someone finds out rhys' truth before he does. ] (iS THIS ALLOWED ?? + okay so basically ur probably wondering what "the crucible and the codex" are - here is a basic rundown of the entire idea until i can make it sound fancy akdsjfhs the crucible and the codex is the title of an ancient legend / belief about a book (the codex) that contains the information of every single living being on the planet. the crucible is described as a device / box / object that can create new life BUT only with the codex. whoever has ownership / control of both the crucible and the codex is thus granted the ability to not only create any lifeforms they want, but to also alter or destroy any existing lifeforms already on the planet. there is no limit to this power. for example, the user could create a single human, or they could decide to turn every human on the planet into a flower or an ancient monster. you can see why it is often described as a myth instead of a real thing, and is quite powerful. however, the legend of the crucible and the codex is not entirely accurate (obviously). rhys IS the crucible and the codex, both of them together, in human form. inside him is the dna / genetic information of everything single creature, animal, micro-organism and plant on this green earth, while his body functions as the crucible. it is also not so easy to claim "ownership" of him. in order to "own" and thus use the crucible and the codex, rhys must be emotional attached to whoever so wishes to have this power. essentially, he must either fall in love with them, or become obsessed with them (such as forcibly through stockholm syndrome, etc.). only then will the person he is emotionally attached to be able to have access to the crucible and the codex. + beloved (potential nsfw) // anyone, male preferred // you are one of the few creatures able to sense just who / what rhys actually is. because of this you come up with a plan to either make the human fall in love with you, or force him to depend on you, to the point that it develops into a severe attachment / obsession. all of this is to help you towards your goal of gaining access to his power, and by extension, potential control over all living things.
+ it won't stick // vampire, werewolf, etc. (creatures that can turn other creatures) // one night you're either out looking for a snack or find yourself acting completely out of control, and in the end you manage to bite, scratch, maim, etc. one rhys totum. only, when he comes to the next day, and finds himself as another creature, these effects seem to fade over the course of a few hours and he is once again completely human. why won't the transformation stay permanent?
