One of the oldest family names in Verona City, the Devlins origins are much more humble and innocent than the Capulet's or the Montague's. They started mainly as farmers and carpenters, building a name for themselves in reliability. Over the generations, trades and traditions would be passed down, and eventually, the family expanded into law enforcement. Farmers became lawyers, carpenters became police officers. It was this world that Jalisa Devlin was born into. Into a loving family of protectors, she lived her life wanting for nothing and believing nothing could go wrong. But it could, and she was going to find out just how wrong things could go. It started when she was 7, her brother Ray, who was a new police officer, had gotten a new case. It was a cause for celebration, and celebrate they did. Somewhere along the investigation, however, her brother stumbled into something he shouldn't have. The criminal underworld of Verona City was something that every police officer knew about but most didn't speak about it, they simply turned the other way. But not Ray. He was stubborn and refused to turn a blind eye to the wrongdoings of the crime families running Verona behind the scenes.

Unfortunately, this would only end in bloodshed, and a year later when Jalisa was 8, she would return home from school to find her entire family slaughtered. She wasn't sure how long she had stayed with their bodies before "social services" showed up to take her away. But instead of going to an agency as she expected, Jalisa was brought to the boss of the Capulet family. He told her he had heard about what happened to her family and had been a friend to her father and uncles, and in honor of them wanted to offer her a place in their family. She couldn't remember his name being mentioned but was smart and old enough to realize she had no other place to go. So feeling she had no other choice, she accepted. From that moment, Jalisa became simply Seraphine. All traces of her family and former life slowly disappeared over the years and during that time the newly reformed Sera became aware of the real power behind the Capulets.

She had always been very smart, her family had always mentioned she'd make a great businesswoman or lawyer one day. And Sera used this knowledge to learn quickly how things worked and rose in ranks within the family. She was loyal to a fault but effective and efficient in everything she did. By the time she was 22, Sera proudly bore the title of Consigliere of the Capulet family and was happily dating one of the crew members. She took pride in her job and would often find that the faces of her birth family blurred as she continued to be surrounded by her new family. But alas, all good things must come to an end and that end came sooner than Sera ever expected. Just a short two years after getting her new position, she found herself pregnant. Despite not being married, Sera couldn't have been happier and rushed to tell the family the good news.

The reaction wasn't what she expected. In a matter of seconds, the family she had grown to love and see as her own had her. One brave soul would admit that her unborn child would shift the power dynamic within the family considering the rank of its father. Of course, the Capulets couldn't let this happen and so they sent Sera on her way home. They told her to not worry her pretty little head, that they would take care of it. She would find out the hard way that that meant the forfeit of her life and the life of her unborn child. As she was being driven home, a direct collision with a car she immediately recognized belonging to the Capulets left the driver dead upon impact and Sera on the brink of death. It seemed the universe wasn't done with her yet though, for the crash had been noticed shortly after by a civilian and she was rushed to the hospital. Hours later, she woke up in hysterics and with acute retrograde amnesia. The only solace being that her unborn child was miraculously still okay and growing. Seven and a half months later, Sera gave birth to her son Bellamy. The two would spend the next few months in the hospital still, Sera having not been able to heal properly due to her pregnancy. During this time, she would begin to remember and vowed in the night as she rocked her son to sleep that she would always protect him. And she made a promise to herself that she would bring down the people she once saw as family.

Upon the departure from the hospital, Sera used the funds that she had been putting to the side for her now permanently postponed future wedding to acquire a plastic surgeon and with her new look set out her plans. Reaching out to the few people she had trusted over everyone else, Sera began her own crime organization. With this, she took back her family name, but out of spite kept the name the Capulets had given her. Her years of knowing the law and then breaking it through her experience with both of her former families helped her greatly and over the course of the last 10 years, the Devlin name has been growing in power. But they're not done. They'll never be done until she sees the end of the Capulets.
