appearance: dyed-grey hair, expressive (angry) emerald eyes, nearly non-existent waist, slim body, doesn't look like she could break every bone in your body but she's extremely capable and that's probably exactly what she'll do if she sees you on her turf. 

chapter i: kiara's mother was a human woman who was unaffiliated with mortem, but kiara's father, as she was told by her mother when she was seven years old, was a member of mortem. and not just a member, but a squad leader. her mother decided it would be best for kiara to enter mortem and sent her off when she was nine. 

 

chapter iI: ailell brier never knew that kiara hawthorn was his child. he didn't connect the dots, even though she used one of his surnames. and kiara didn't tell him. she didn't need to. everyone called him dad and kiara was one of the best. she was strong, she was fast and she quickly became ailell's protege. 

 

chapter iII: kiara was 21 when she was pulled from ailell's squad and put in charge of her own—her. kiara. the leader of a squad at 21 years old. a squad leader just like her father. she vowed to do him proud and lead just as he had led her squad, but 721 was deployed to thailand and for nine long years, kiara led squad 721 far from the rest of mortem. she crafted it into a squad like 719, one that mostly only killed the monsters preying on humans, not killing anything in their path. occasionally, she was allowed to come back and see ailell, to "seek his counsel", and each time she returned she met the members of squad 719—she cared about them like her own siblings, because they were, to her and to her father, they were family. 

 

chapter iV: and then kiara and her unit was called to the city of dreams, and kiara came back to find that her father was dead and his squad was nowhere to be found. 

 

and kiara was angry. what had happened to their family value? what had happened to their claims that ailell was their father? what had happened to them? why weren't they there? why didn't they even give her father a burial? 

 

she did it herself in the dead of night, just her and a shovel and the forest and the corpse of the man who she would never be able to tell that she was his blood daughter. 

trivia:

• kiara doesn't hate squad 719, but she's angry. she loves them, but she doesn't know what's happened in the city. she's furious ailell died alone and wasn't given a burial. 

• she keeps her hair gray because her natural hair color is ailell's delicate blonde. she also has her father's eyes and it would be too much of a coincidence. 

• she uses an axe because of her father. 

• kiara would kill anyone soiling her father's name. 

• all she ever wanted was for ailell to finally know she was his child and she'll never get that now.
