Jealousy. That was what Orion experienced the first time he saw his next door neighbor lift a rock into the air and crush it to dust without ever having to touch it. Why couldn't he do that? Why wasn't he special too? It wasn't fair.

Jealousy slowly began to sit and rot in the pit of Orion's stomach, sitting like a weight in his heart. The longer jealousy sits, the deeper the rage it becomes. Jealousy quickly turned into resentment and anger. If Orion couldn't be special like that, he would see to it that no one else was, either.

The guard job seemed like a dream come true. He could finally put those freaks in their place. Finally have power over them. Finally. Finally.

Not long after being in the institute, Orion began to see a different side to these seemingly all-powerful mutants; desperation. It made him laugh. It corrupted him. Now he trades the inmates ual favors for things like cigarettes, chocolate, extra shower time. He finally has the power he always wanted.
