born in the run down slums of south korea. her biological mother died during child birth, and her father worked two jobs to keep afloat, needless to say they were very poor and had no other family to reach out to. eventually her father got very ill and fell bedridden. when he passed away, hana was sent to an orphanage, but her stay there was not long as a wealthy french couple that could not conceive a child and were desperate for one adopted her. it was a change, strange for her and although she grew to love her adoptive parents, her father continued to be in her heart. the following year she received a letter to hogwarts, her biological father had no magical lineage, but her biological mother did. her adoptive parents are a well known name in the medical and scientific field, and founders of various hospitals in europe.
