sohee and sorae were inseperable ever since. the moment sohee was born, sorae had this innate sisterly instinct to protect her from anything that would harm her down the road. sorae would gladly get battered and bruised in the place of her sister. everything they did, they did it together. even if sorae was in the limelight for being such a talented athlete and the next in line to their family legacy, she made sure she never left sohee behind.

but even the strongest bonds have their weakest links, when exposed and broken, there was no way of mending it back. when sorae discovered her interest in pursuing law, it angered her parents. sorae was close to being the youngest archer to win gold in the next olympics; but she chose to walk a different path instead. feeling betrayed with pouring all their hard work for nothing, her parents harshly threw her out of their estate with nothing but herself.

it wasn’t sorae who felt the worst as she somewhat intended for this to happen. sohee became the most affected person when sorae left to pursue her dreams. from the daughter left in the shadows of her older sister, to a girl who suddenly had to rise up to all the expectations her parents set for her. it was difficult to meet the standard sorae left– if she was to fill the hole in her parents’ heart, she had to push herself even if it was going to break her. it was all for their smiles and praises.

in five years time, her whole family was estranged to sorae. while sorae had established becoming a known lawyer especially among celebrities, sohee had managed to win gold with her speed skating discipline in the olympics. though, sohee wished she had her older sister to share this moment with her, and sorae the same. but five years felt too late to repair what was left of them, the gap felt too wide to fill what was lost.

Yoonyoung has always been labeled as the eccentric one in her whole family. Not that she was quirky or the like, but her reserved demeanor made her stand out amongst her clamorous and confident family members. She was always indoors playing by herself while her cousins who would visit their estate were the ones having fun in the garden. Her parents did not know why she was different in that way, but at least she was on her way to fulfilling the family legacy of successful athletes.

Picking up a tennis racket at two, winning competitions at seven, and entering world leaderboards at sixteen, Yoonyoung was a prodigy with a natural talent at tennis. She even represented South Korea and won medals for the singapore Youth Olympics and london Summer Olympics. Anyone outside would say she was lucky she already had the athletic genes from her speed skater mother, archer father, and her sporty predecessors of various sports disciplines. While Yoonyoung could say she was undoubtedly fortunate, sometimes she had thought what life would be like just as another girl in South Korea.

When she was seventeen, Yoonyoung was invited by her older cousin to visit her estranged aunt, Sorae. It was a day where Sorae was going to trial for an infamous celebrity case where she had the privilege to invite her niece, whom she had not ever seen. Ecstatic about learning about something other than sports, Yoonyoung immediately set off to Seoul, where the trial was held.

Yoonyoung was good at keeping secrets. She realized this when she managed to keep shut about pursuing something other than tennis until Yoonyoung was 21– just before she was about to enter Stellavenace with her sister. It infuriated her parents so much, but mostly her mother (while her father was only displeased). Her mother, Sohee, felt like it was the fallout between her and Sorae 23 years ago all over again. Everything in their family was perfect until then. Due to the strain between her and her parents after that, Yoonyoung left her sister to attend the academy all on her own. Yoonyoung ran away shortly to incheon where her aunt resided after feeling extremely suffocated in her own household.

While trying to figure out where to head off next, Yoonyoung enrolled in a university to study international law and attend law school. During their break, she would help her aunt prepare for cases and trials. Even when she was away from home, Yoonyoung still participated in selected tennis competitions nationally. The year before her sister returned from Stellavenace, Yoonyoung had a compelling feeling to return back home as well to try to mend things with her mother. She didn’t want her sister to come home with an estranged sister. So Yoonyoung struck up a deal with her mother– if she had not borne the fruits of her labor a year after her graduation in Stellavenace, she was to abandon her dreams and continue her career in tennis.

Yoonyoung can come off as snobby or dismissive because of her 'resting face'. In reality, she does not deliberately ignore people as she is only lost in her own world of thoughts. yoonyoung is studious and an achiever, some rare traits in her athletic family as someone who has the passion for law. on the other hand, she is serious-minded and a workaholic as a result of being a succeeder.

Despite wanting to become a lawyer, it does not mean yoonyoung detests being a tennis player as her parents wishes her to be. she is calculating and thinks quick on her feet from years of constant training. though, she only wants to play it as a recreational activity rather than a career. She also inherited being ambitious in everything she does from her (super) driven family.

with her fondness of watching trials and conferences, she innately copies the behavior of attorneys and delegates. though, from continuous training in this discipline with her aunt, yoonyoung developed the trait of being blunt and a realist which places her on a negative light when people are acquainted with her. though, being a straightforward person also has its perks in serious conversations.
