the person
chapter one: the beginnings.
talent came very easily to park sunghoon from a young age. ever since the boy was able to stand on his own two feet, he took an interest in the ice, drawn to the frozen water like it was the air he breathed. his parents had been supportive when their young, and only, son expressed interest in wanting to pursue such a thing.
he was seven when he first began training in ice skating. it was a rough beginning, but it was soon clear that he had a natural ability. it wasn't long before he was doing tricks, teaching himself when he wasn't learning with a professional. his parents wouldn't miss out on such an opportunity, and pulled him from public school before he had much of a chance to flourish there anyway.
sunghoon watched as his life became nothing but private studies for school and hours and hours of training. he spent more time on his skates than he ever saw his own family. some days he felt the chill of the ice deep in his bones, long after he was already home and relaxing. but he didn't mind. he loved the feeling, he loved the cold, he loved how freeing it was to be on the ice.

chapter two: victory.
as sunghoon aged, his talent only grew with him. he entered in competition after competition, catching the eye of the general public when his wins came one after another. he was destroying his competition, taking the spotlight as a monster rookie in the sport, gaining fans from all around the world.
he was even dubbed south korea's "ice prince" — though he did not come from any sort of royal family, he was considered a prince of the very ice he skated on. he didn't mind the title, wore it proudly even if it made him a little shy. after all, he was no prince. he was a boy with a passion for something and a talent to do it.
the boy was aware that he had fans, but he never really had to experience them. he kept his head down, waved to cameras when he needed to, and security took care of people who were too pushy. he gave autographs when he was asked, smiled pretty for pictures with girls and boys alike who seemed to swoon over him. he didn't realize what kind of power he had, he just thought it was neat that people liked him.
of course, great success never came without some sort of sacrifice. for him, it was a couple of things. first, he lacked any sort of social life. he didn't mind it, he was never a social person to begin with, and he always found it hard to speak to people outside of his inner circle (which was still work related). second, the only real experience in life he ever had was that which involved his work. sure, he traveled the world to go to various competitions, to train under different conditions, but what he saw of the world was through airplane and hotel windows. he could tell where he was based on the writing on the pack of snacks. he knew the cultures based on what was surrounding the skating rinks.
it wasn't bad, but there was a part of him longing for something more.
sunghoon spent years training for one moment: the winter olympics. he entered for south korea, proudly held onto the flag, and his talent shined through on the day of the competition. that year, he truly made south korea proud by taking home the gold medal. his parents were pleased, but they were soon nagging him about one tiny mistake he had made in his performance. it was time to get back on the ice, to train, to perfect his form.
the ice prince had everything at his fingertips. or at least, that's what the world seemed to think.

chapter three: longing.
he had heard about stellavenace in passing when scrolling on his phone. it was trending on social media right below his name, and he had clicked on it on accident. but he was drawn in, attracted by the things he had seen, the rumors circulating around. normally, he wouldnt have ever dared to bring something like that up to his parents, but he was in between training sessions, on a break due to the slow of the season.
his parents were reluctant at first, after all how could their star son go away to an academy and still practice? but with some convincing, promising that he would continue skating there, insisting that the idea of education was just as important as what he could do on skates, they sent in the application.
sunghoon had been accepted, and soon he was off to the academy. news reported it, his parents were praised for being able to send their son to such a renowned place, and it worked out for all of them. but soon, sunghoon would learn that he was truly naive and knew so little of the world around him. that, and he really did not know how to speak to people.

deeper dive
general persona.
incredibly introverted (opens up once you get close to him, but good luck with that). very quiet, very naive (not stupid), can be very childlike given the opportunity. stoic, rbf, often categorized as "y" but really he's just quiet. very "dont speak unless spoken to" generally because he doesnt know how to initiate conversations anyway. a sweetheart once you're past the walls.
likes.
iced coffee (americano). stargazing. listening to music. cold weather. writing and reading poetry. light & flowy clothes. nicknames (he would never tell anyone he likes being called any nicknames, though).
dislikes.
when it's too hot. overly loud/pushy people (specifically when they get in his personal bubble). being asked too many questions. liars.
hobbies.
ice skating. dancing (to a degree). essentially, that's it, there's not much you can do when your parents have you focused in one area in particular.
quirks.
sticks his tongue out when focusing on a task. zones out (often). extremely loyal. can never remember his left from right (always checks his hands by making the l shape). rarely shows emotions. has not cried in front of anyone since he was 8 years old (not counting when he won the gold medal).

ooc notes
disclaimer.
yes, my character is young. that does not mean i am ualizing them. do not automatically assume such a thing. if there are any concerns, please bring it up with me in pms.
preferences.
any detailed writing is welcome. right now, i cant exactly handle novella, but i will tend to mirror posts. in terms of plotting, even if we just get some framework down and go off of brainstorming, that's fine! just to have some sense of direction. do not ask to rp but not work with me/have any ideas yourself for what we could do.
activity.
i work 5 days a week and am either braindead or running on adrenaline outside of my work hours, so please bear with me. perpetually tired. just because i am active in rooms does not mean i am ignoring you or the like.
other.
gmt-7/8. my sleep schedule is wack. please only poke me if it's been 5 days. communication is key: if you want to change/stop anything, let me know, and i will do the same for you (i will not be offended). please read the information about my character before reaching out to potentially rp.
