chapter i ╱ the beginning
seulgi takes a questioning glance on her wristwatch once she stepped off of the dock, still struggling with the trolley she brought along and back hurting with the straps sitting on her shoulders for too long — the clock says it's 7:30pm — before her nose crinckled up in a scrunch. she squints onto lit windows and shops her gaze could find in deep thought: the touch of infrastructures she usually sees in the city not a speck to find along identical buildings neatly stacked in rows; some bricked roads, may be imperfect with some cracked but, raising higher onto the mountains; smell of coffee and mint to dance in a glorious harmony in the air as the distinct chatter the voice of the song of the waves, laughter full of glee and energy like the unexpected hook of her favourite hit song. it felt cold, overwhelming, new, familiar—
the huge sign on her far right, thankfully bright enough for passengers to see, had her eyes now shaped into slants. the longer seulgi stared, the huge question mark right over her head continues its growth. the letters she was expecting to read nowhere in sight! anxiety on the tip of her fingers, she rummages onto the inner pocket of her jacket, the printed 9:00pm flight in bolded text has her biting on her lower lip. it's a shame she forgot to charge her phone before she departed out of the apartment, worried she might miss her plane if she stayed in much longer even if trying, it's hard to stay calm as of the moment. i remembered didn't find any close by when i looked it on the map. it's also impossible if i'm already in a different country since the hangul— is it because yeongwon caters only to domestic flights?
breaking her out of her own trance is a grandmother around her sixties(?), slow and soft spoken when she asked seulgi if she's a visitor. almost immediately, the younger lady nods, following her own question about the whereabouts of an airport possibly nearby. only then the grandmother replies with a smile, offering her own home for the night. grandmother also adds about her being must be exhausted and hungry after all the hours of travel — to which is truth. she felt lonelier and more lost the more she stood there, unsure of where to go or to start; relief washing over her upon contact of a local in big splashes. as her hand was held into wrinkled ones, seulgi walks side by side with grandmother guiding her to her home just a few blocks and turns away from the dock.
the bowl of ramen that grandmother made tastes even better than the ramen she had on her three hundred and sixty fifth day, not reheated and no bugs too, that she gobbled up three bowls in a breath and asking for a fourth.(she missed home-cooked meals, please give her a break!) the conversations and random stories she share in between the meals keep seulgi entertained, only asked for trivial questions like her name and the purpose of her visit. grandmother smiles, gives her a pat on her shoulder — even if unsure on what it means, it's comforting — and grandmother calls dibs on shaved ice cream for dessert.
she have forgotten her missing flight fiasco and haven't spoken a word about it even when it's time to clean up, thanks to the bowls of ramen.
after putting the dishes by the rack even if the older woman is heavily against of a visitor doing host's chores, "worn out" guest was then lead on an empty yet clean room, a futon and a thick blanket idle in the middle. the room is big enough for her to sprawl her bags on the floor. it's around 11:30 pm by the time seulgi finishes her preparation to head to bed, laid out futon fluffy atop her pajamas. the rattling of the window sills excites her that she could feel the cold wind on her fingertips, arms then throwing the windows wide open and let the cold tickle her skin—
no, remember the night of one hundred and eighty fifth. their piercing gaze. the darkness that surrounds them. the irises raised in the colour of disgust, betrayal and desperation. the gaze that cuts through the skin and deep onto your soul. the calmness in open wounds. the empty medicine bottles. the cries you have to muffle just so no one can hear about your suffering even if you so badly want to be heard.
—and shimmer from the cloudless sky made earth below bedazzle in silver, the twinkling reflection from the waves creates stars with every roll; the towering lighthouse reminds her she was long gone and out of the land she once feared on living. the darkness that engulfs the horizon has the world becomes blurry, and brims suddenly feel heavy and full. for the first time in what felt like forever, seulgi pours her heart out along with her tears until her chest aches; she might've scared the neighbours off with how ugly she sounds in between her sobs, and she likely looks more horrible than what she have painted in her mind. it felt more than liberating.
it was as if the moon heard her cries, it decides to show one of its jewels for her to see. it's beutiful, the contrast atop stark black creates a halo around the star. it helps her calm down, a small smile situating on her face— her hiccups loud in between silent thoughts and grunt soft as her palm push her tears off of her face — reminds her of herself, the life of gullible seulgi and scared nabi. seulgi, then determined, promises she will leave her fears in the past, start her present anew, and add more stars to her own sky on the future ahead of her. taking the tickets in her hands that were sitting on top of her bag, ripple after the other fill the air. singapore can wait.
with another glance she casted on the full moon above, seulgi hastily closes the windows shut and calls it a night, sandwiching herself in between the futon and the blanket. the thickness of the pillow on the side of her head not big enough that she still feels the comforting buzz of the floor beneath her, the sound of a passing motorcycle whirlled from a distance. she did not miss the way the sound of the waves crash among one another and splashing onto the hard concrete in soft thuds, melodious along the sound of the wind that knocks softly on the window sills. she's certain of a lullaby the breeze shared as it passed by, pushing her forward to a peaceful slumber.
yeongwon feels like home, and she hope this will be her new home.
12:00 am. three hundred and seventy. finally back to one.
(and it still is her home twenty five days later.)

chapter ii ╱ the background
one. kang seulgi was born with a golden pacifier stuck in , granted that she came from a family of successful businessmen and entrepreneurs. her birth was a scorn to "family traditions" — the eldest child, a son, to take over the legacy of the kang business — that, despite the undying support of parents, her grandparents let her put up immense pressure ever since childhood.
two. not a single second was spared for happiness and being a child of her childhood life for as long as she can remember. if not busy honing her skills in piano and ballet, or molding her into the "perfect girl worthy of the legacy", the grandparents then forced 7-year old seulgi to meeting strangers on business meetings and parties. none of the kids she frequently met during balls she can consider as a friend; her "friends" fired every 3 months and replaced with another.
three. the first time seulgi have tasted freedom was when she have spent a day in her university dorm, no grandparents to please and lessons to take — and it rendered her speechless. being new to the world outside of business and expectations is a forest; and, the lone yet ecstatic wanderer she is, she was determined to keep it that way.
four. teenager seulgi have found tons of friends and a significant other in a span of five months into university life, and it turned out to be toxic relationships. it didn't take long for the woman to be controlled by constant blackmailing from friends, suffered abuse from the hands of her "lover" and never-ending demands to be one of the cool kids(i.e. being forced to things she doesn't want to do). such overwhelming feeling had her stop from going to classes and fail most of her subjects, resulting to immediate kickout weeks prior 2nd year's 2nd semester.
! trigger warning ! five. now faced in embarrassment whilst trying to add more bricks to her road to freedom, seulgi was invited to stay in her lover's apartment for the time-being "until she have sorted things out" — and so she stayed. her hopes on reconciliation with their constant on-and-off relationship crushed the moment they closed the door. throughout her stay, seulgi was forced to lie to her parents just to satisfy the lover and endure the loneliness being locked in, her contact outside minimum to none.
six.seulgi waited for a year to get out of the relationship, them leaving for a party downtown was her sign of escape and go back home — only to be pushed away by grandparents, slapping the we don't have a grandchild narrative straight to her face. her disappearance didn't please the lover, and so they have been following the lady. even if she have changed contacts whilst guised under the name of nabi, jumping from an unfamiliar town to the other every two weeks her only choice for survival for eleven months.
seven. seulgi's next destination was supposed to be in jeju and catch her international flight, a ticket to singapore heavy in her hand. with a dead battery and poor directions, she find herself riding on a boat to yeongwon. is relatively new to the town.

epilogue ╱ out of character
hello there, this is psycheux! feel free to call me psycheux, mal, or seulgi/nabi. i am happy that i get to write a character like seulgi (been wanting to but i keep on dipping about it) and is stoked to see her growth. it is my pleasure to get to make connections with you!
there are some pieces of information and notes to keep in mind:
one. i am already over 20 years old. i'm most comfortable being addressed using she/they pronouns, though any pronouns is fine!
two. please keep walls clean at all times and redirect connection, plot calls, inquiries, etc. in pm; though ooc room works just as fine! ongoing / existing threads will be in rooms.
three. i'm most comfortable when it comes to writing in both 2nd and 3rd pov, para / novella, descriptive / detailed. i can try writing in 1st but it will be spotty and takes a longer time. length varies from one reply to the other though i have the tendency to get carried away when it comes to replies; you have the freedom not to mirror the length!
four. english is neither my first nor second language, and there will be typographical and/or grammatical errors present in replies. i encourage everyone to correct me kindly when it comes to my mistakes!
five reply speed is in span of three(3) days to two(2) weeks. i don't reply quickly since my free schedule tends to change quickly, and my attention span changes in a matter of speed of light. take no offense if i'm active in rooms but not sending you a reply just yet; i promise i'm working on it behind the scenes.
six. i don't do pokes, so please no poking as much as possible. i don't like the idea of being forced to reply. first two pokes i somewhat consider and tolerate; and there will be no hesitation when it comes to dropping the plot if i ever receive a third one.
seven. i am more into plotting than winging, i have a harder time to wing since i don't have enough guide with what the plot is going to be. plots listed are open and can be guides. if nothing on the list interests you, i am more than down to do brainstorming with you!
eight. genre/s i encourage when it comes to roleplaying and in line with seulgi's growth, from most to least: fluff, angst, slice of life, crack, / romance. this will vary and is open to communicate when it comes to additional details and/or changes in the middle of the plot.
nine. communication is key and is smexy! please don't hesitate to send in a pm when it comes to inquiries, suggestions, changes, questions. i will reply to each as quickly as i can!
ten. ic angst / hate will remain in ic completely!
