soulmate:

the bond of soulmates was often mentioned in their society as something incredibly rare to find and even exist, but it was mentioned as something really powerful and that strongly linked two people together. they would know they are soulmates and would not be able to be apart, they would eventually drift right back to each other. taeyong didn't know anyone who knew for a fact they had met their soulmate, but his parents always told him about how they did not need all those extra things to prove that they were soulmates. they made each other happy and it all worked out every time and that's what a true bond was about, or that's what they said at least. he wanted to believe that but he couldn't be too sure, after all you are supposed to know with 100% certainty when you are standing in front of your soulmate. it's not been fully proven and even the experiences from people with a soulmate seem to be different from each other, but all of them said it was impossible to avoid or deny it, they just knew for a fact they were each other's soulmates.

being a romantic person, taeyong wanted to believe in soulmates, he truly did, but he also did not want to delude himself. he'd rather be pleasantly surprised later in life than depressingly disappointed. as a kid he did still await to meet his soulmate one day, but as the years went by, the thought just started to slip his mind. soulmates had always been said to be extremely rare and not a lot of people had them (that is if they even existed). and even those that had supposedly found their soulmate seemed to show different types of 'symptoms' and experiences so how could they actually be sure that the bond they claimed to be real was actually a thing and not just their own very personal experience of what love feels like?
taeyong had had relationships but none of them had ever felt as strong as the bond they described as 'soulmates' and at some point he just convinced himself that it was useless, it was not real and the fact that he was reaching for something so unrealistic was actually ruining his relationships. after he convinced himself of that, he met somin and it was the first time a relationship of his actually worked out.

Family:

ever since young, taeyong has always lived a pretty modest life. his parents had a great relationship with each other and that was something they liked to 'brag' about often. thanks to this, his family was pretty close overall.

there were five of them in the nice family house for a big part of his life. during his childhood and teens he lived with both his parents as well as his two older sisters each having their own rooms. as the years went by though, his oldest sister moved out to live with her girlfriend and a couple of years later his second sister also left the house but being someone who'd always been pretty independent, she left to live alone, though taeyong did end up tagging along not long after and they instead shared the apartment until he and somin decided to move in together, finally getting an apartment of their own, which they still share to this day.

career-wise, taeyong was always a mediocre student. he was sure he could do better in school but he just couldn't find it in himself to be interested in all this math and physics stuff. he wanted to know about arts and music. he took some guitar lessons and started composing his own stuff by improvising and making up some melodies. these eventually turned into actual songs that he wanted to work on and record professionally and so in college, he chose to study music production. he started posting some rough covers and originals recorded in video format on his phone. the quality wasn't the best but it was all he had at the moment.
as he worked for his own music, he had to find something else to do so he could make money and this turned out to be working as a guitar teacher in a small academy. it wasn't his dream job but it worked for now so he took it.

it was only when he got his own apartment that he convinced his girlfriend to spare one of the extra rooms for him to convert it into a small studio. it cost quite a bit of money even to buy just the essentials for the recordings but he had saved it up from his work and so he finally got it all ready. that same year he got some songs ready and started posting on soundcloud. his songs were always a bit more personal, leaning on the alternative, so he didn't think the career of an idol or even a full blow singer was for him. he preferred small, intimist things. sure he wanted to play, but he wanted small gigs at bars and cafes and not huge venues or music shows. he was happy just making his music for a very small audience that could appreciate it which mostly consisted of friends and family, or the casual listeners.

taeyong is rather simple while managing to be complicated at the same time. he does not like drama and prefers to surround himself with people who are relaxed and not a lot to deal with, but at the same time he seems to feel drawn to people with a stronger personality, maybe because he's more of a follower and hence needs someone to lead him.

he does like keeping things simple but he keeps overcomplicating things by himself.  be it as he overthinks every little detail or the paranoia that comes with it. do his friends actually like him or do they feel obligated to be with him since they've been together for so long? this type of thing is what fills his mind if he's left alone for too long and he can get quite emotional over a lot of things, his self-control is not entirely the best.

on one hand, he really likes stability, on the other, he likes changing it up every once in a while and he does enjoy taking a risk. he's more of an introvert but will easily follow an extrovert if he feels comfortable around them. he's also very in touch with his emotions and a very romantic person. he gets easily attached but is not good at dealing with strong emotions. he really wants people to show they care for him but is also very scared of being abandoned or hurt, or hurting those around him.

aside from love and friends his biggest passion is music and he just enjoys listening to it as much as he enjoys making it. he loves live music and going to concerts and festivals alone is one of his favorite hobbies as he feels he can truly immerse himself in the music and it just spikes his own inspiration for his works. he listens to all types of music but has a bit of an alternative soul. he works mostly from home being a 'soundcloud' artist who mostly posts there and doesn't do much for promotion yet as he isn't all too experienced in it. not really the 'social media' type of guy either, barely posts pictures or anything,
