more likely to step into something for the sake of entertainment than romance, duyi is more likely to favour one person for their ual attraaction rather than pursuing something more. it isn't worth holding out for him unless he's really into you, because he's probably been with everyone close to you first.

despite being the youngest of a long line of his father's children (and, a legitimate son to the throne, unlike many of his older siblings), duyi was far from given special treatment. his father gave no heeding to the legitimacy of his blood, and simply named the oldest son the heir to his throne. this would continue down the line, meaning that duyi was as far as he could possibly be from a future emperor.

when news came of a rebellion, a kingdom in uproar and chaos, his father sat up straighter in his throne. duyi knew that look. opportunistic as ever, his old man was. the youngest prince stepped forward, a grin upon his lips. of course he'd go to determine the state of their enemy. of course he'd go to bring honour to his family. maybe then, someone would remember duyi's name in a few years time, and he would not just be a forgotten young son, left with no glory to be had.
