Long ago, in Ancient China, the Emperor bear their youngest child and named her Xiuyin. When she was six years old, she has many suitors because of her beauty and kindness towards others. This made her older sibling jealous and tries to get rid of her by asking their father, the Emperor to marry her to an influential noblemen to strengthen their ties with other lands. However the Empress refused and made a choice that Xiuyin will no longer be a heiress and the princess of their kingdom, she made a way for them to transfer her to the land of Rising Sun (Japan). There the Empress has some connections and one of whom to agreed to took care of Xiuyin. She was 20 years old when she was sailed away from their kingdom and trained to become a shrine maiden. Later, she was named herself as Juuzou.

 

Juuzou served devotedly to Jizo, the guardian deity of protection among travellers and merchants and Inari, god of rice cultivation and good luck for merchants. Many travelling merchants dwell into their shrine and many were grateful to see Juuzou welcoming them with her heartwarming smile. Among the travelers, a mysterious man wearing black cloak enters the shrine and prays towards the statues everyday. When Juuzou talked to him, he was once a worshipper of Tsukoyomi, the god of the moon. They start walking about the deities of this country and slowly something sparks between them. The mysterious man now asking Juuzou to come with him at night which she did after her shrine maiden duties.

 

They both went to a beautiful waterfall and there the man revealed that he was cursed by Tsukoyomi itself and became the creature of the night, he was a monster and he knows that Juuzou will fear him but no. Juuzou never fears him now that he told him the truth, it only drew her closer to him. They kissed under the moonlight.

 

Then they were couple, Juuzou continued to be a shrine maiden while the vampire keeps giving her meals and trinkets until she felt nauseous and ill, the physician told her that she was pregnant and the two rejoiced. Juuzou dismissed herself on being a shrine maiden and both of them went on living together to take care of their baby who was growing inside Juuzou.

 

The time comes and Juuzou's pregnancy became early and her lover called out a mid wife to help her give birth. It was a slow and painful process as if her life has been out every second. When their child was born, Juuzou lost too much blood and she was slowly dying. Her lover handed her their healthy baby boy, she was happy at that moment as her life slowly creeping out of her body. Juuzou woke up as a vampire like him and was very hesitant on everything as everything changed within her. Her lover always willing to help her how to live like them, but also fearing that their child will be in danger when her lover told her that their kind will hunt them down for raising a dhampir. For their child, they must leave him to humans. They left their son to her human friends before they fled.

 

Together, the couples traveled from civilizations to civilizations, they saw how they rise and fall. They helped humans to break free from the clutches of evil and oppression and that made a notice by the order of vampires. They were rogue vampires, roaming around the world but they were chased, hunted and once captured by the other vampires in a raid of the vikings. Her lover made sure that Irene (her former name), won't be captured by putting her to sleep in a boat. Her lover gets captured while she was sailed away from them.

 

Her heart is broken, knowing that her eternal lover, would be captured and supposedly died protecting her. She was devastated but he left a note, her lover knew what will happened and told her through the writing that she must live and go on, be someone that can be both allies for humans and vampires. She had a feeling that he'd still be alive and she hoped to wait for him, she had to live within the shadows.

 

When the blood farms had began, she already has many connections of both humans and vampires who believed that her reputation is clean. But behind it was another story. She became a first Head of Security but only in 50 years before she had an argument with one of the heads before she stepped down and decided to own a wine company before slowly establishing a casino. She then became one of the benefactors of the blood farms, exporting wine and blood wine for the vampires.

 

Joohyun is devious and cunning, but has a heart for human kids. For millenia, she developed a gambling habit, she knows every nooks and cranies in gambling and played it clean. She never cheated, she hates cheaters. Most of the vampries in the casino calls her, "Goddess of Gambit" as she never lose in gambling only making draws of it.

 

She is skilled in swordsmanship where she always carries a Jian (Chinese sword) behind her back whenever she goes out of the city alone, she cannot be killed quickly as she has sharp eyes. However, decapitating her head can only kill her. Holly and Blackthorn is where she can be weakened. Due to her longevity, her hair develops white strands of hair as a sign that she's very old.

 

She took care of human orphans before and barely now because of the blood farms that was developed within the city. She cares for them like she was their mother.
