The Story

Part I

Beomyoung was born into a financially struggling family in a small coastal town. Yet Beomyoung's life was far from easy. His parents made rash and irresponsible decisions when they were young, leading to them working multiple jobs to make ends meet, leaving them with little time to spend with their son. After all, his parents weren't the brightest. Though it was never clearly said to him, Beomyoung understood at a young age that his parents wanted a child, but he wasn’t wanted. Thus, growing up with limited parental attention made Beomyoung emotionally detached from his family. He learned to deal with his feelings on his own and developed a tendency to keep his emotions bottled up inside. This emotional withdrawal made it challenging for him to express himself freely. Yet Beomyoung found his channel for his emotions—music.

From a young age, Beomyoung was drawn to music as a means of escape from the difficulties of his everyday life. He would spend hours singing and dancing, pouring his heart into every performance. Despite his undeniable talent and passion for music, Beomyoung faced constant discouragement from those around him. His family, fearing he would waste time pursuing an uncertain career in the entertainment industry, urged him to focus on academics instead. This played on his mind as he sought to please his parents, trying to gain their recognition. Their nagging made him question if it was even worth wondering if his dreams of becoming an artist were worthwhile. Nonetheless, despite the doubts and obstacles, Beomyoung's determination remained unyielding. He participated in school talent shows and local competitions, gaining recognition for his exceptional vocal and dance skills. His performances began to draw attention, and a local music producer recognized his potential. With the producer's encouragement, Beomyoung auditioned for a well-known K-pop entertainment company and was accepted as a trainee at the age of 15.

 

Chapter II

However, life as a trainee was far from glamorous. The rigorous training schedule, intense competition, and demanding expectations from the company took a toll on him both physically and emotionally. At times, he felt like giving up, especially as a trainee at a prestigious K-pop entertainment company. Beomyoung found himself surrounded by incredibly talented and ambitious individuals. The competition among trainees was fierce, with everyone vying for the limited spots in debut groups or solo careers. This intense competition sometimes made him doubt his abilities and feel like he had to constantly prove himself. He not only faced the challenges of intense competition and demanding training but also had to endure the painful experience of being bullied by some of his fellow trainees. Beomyoung's exceptional talent and unique story of overcoming a rough childhood drew attention from his peers.

Some trainees, fueled by jealousy and envy, saw him as a threat to their chances of debut and success. This jealousy led the bullies to often mock Beomyoung’s background and humble beginnings. They belittled his hometown, his family's financial struggles, and even his appearance, using hurtful words to try and break his spirit. This constant ridicule made him feel even more isolated and alienated, as his parents did not support his career choice. In some instances, Beomyoung experienced instances of sabotage where his fellow trainees tried to undermine his performances and opportunities. This would include spreading rumors or misinformation, sabotaging his rehearsals, or subtly undermining his confidence before monthly evaluations. Beomyoung also faced rejection and criticism, both from his mentors and staff. The constant feedback and evaluation of his performance led to moments of self-doubt and uncertainty about his potential debut. This further fueled the bullies' actions, as they felt emboldened by the lack of opportunities Beomyoung was given.

As Beom’s journey as a trainee continued, the toll of the intense training, the bullying he endured, and the emotional challenges became overwhelming. Despite his unwavering passion for music, he reached a breaking point where he felt he could no longer bear the emotional burden of the trainee life. The constant self-doubt and lack of emotional support took a toll on his mental health, leading him to make the difficult decision to give up being a trainee. Now 19, leaving behind the world he had once dreamed of, Beomyoung faced the harsh reality of needing to support himself financially. However, his family's financial struggles meant that going back home was not a viable option. Without a stable source of income, he found himself in a vulnerable position, grappling with the uncertainty of his future.
 

Part II

Chapter I

Overwhelmed by the weight of these circumstances, Beomyoung had no choice but to take up various part-time jobs to make ends meet. He worked long hours, often in low-paying positions, just to survive. These jobs were far from the glitz and glamour of the K-pop world he once aspired to be a part of. During this challenging period, Beomyoung experienced feelings of disappointment and failure. More kindling was added to the fire as Beomyoung watched former peers, those who picked, spat, and destroyed him, debut and gain attention and fame. He couldn't help but wonder if giving up on his dreams was the right decision or if he had simply let the bullies win. Despite the difficult circumstances, he persisted in his part-time jobs, determined to survive and support himself. However, even as he worked these jobs, Beomyoung’s love for music never waned. During his free time, he would sing and write songs to cope with his emotions and find solace. Music remained his constant companion, even in the darkest moments of his life.

As time passed, Beomyoung's resilience and dedication caught the attention of a small indie music label. Impressed by Beomyoung's talent and perseverance, the indie music label offered him the opportunity to record a few songs and perform at local events. While it was far from the glamorous debut he had once envisioned, it reignited his passion for music and gave him a glimmer of hope. And with this newfound opportunity, Beomyoung started to rebuild his confidence and sense of purpose. He began to take small steps towards reigniting his musical career, one song at a time. Slowly but steadily, he started to gain recognition among local music enthusiasts and began to connect with a supportive community of fellow artists. This would prove fruitful, as Beomyoung’s resilience and passion for music eventually caught the attention of another talent agent.

The agent approached Beomyoung with an offer to train under Lotus, a different entertainment company that focused on developing artists who were unique and genuine in their artistry. Initially hesitant, Beomyoung was wary of returning to the cutthroat world of K-pop training, fearing that he might face similar challenges as before. However, the agent assured him that this new company had a different approach, placing a strong emphasis on individuality and self-expression. Feeling encouraged by the agent's words and inspired by the possibility of having a fresh start, Beomyoung decided to give his dreams another chance. With a mix of hope and apprehension, Beomyoung began his journey as a trainee once again.
