It's your special day, the anniversary of a blessing. It's a day for celebration... and gifts. But what does one of lesser means gift a man who has (or could have) every material thing he wants?
This person humbly hopes that a handwritten letter suffices in part. Hand pressed mulberry paper is hard to come by on a maid's wage; nearly as difficult as these words in a dozen failed drafts. Now I ramble as if  this is of substance.
It's my wish that all you could want for finds you. I wish for your happiness and good health. Had I met you two months ago, I would have made these wishes on my own candles. Alas, now this is just wasted self-indulgence on fine paper.
Let me get on with it. I hope the cake is to your liking despite its simplicity (baking is not my strong suit). Besides that, I have but one thing to offer. Along with my friendship I give you my loyalty, my heart, the blood in my veins if you so wish it. I am yours to move as you wish, body and soul, as you have moved me at first sight.
Yet your gift is also yours to relinquish if it is not to your liking.
