When we first met, I didn't think this would evolve into anything beyond a passionate fling. An enticing intermezzo, something to waste my time with. Frankly, I was dead set on not letting my emotions play a part in this game. Too scared of broken hearts and hopeless expectations, I thought it was for the best to keep it strictly physical and save ourselves the certain heartache. However, I hadn't reckoned with you.
All my inhibitions were lifted layer by layer by your carefree nonchalance. You never questioned the natural gravitation; generous with your affections From day one, I found myself falling. A little deeper each moment we spent until you were the only thing I was desperate to hold onto. Back then my fate had already been sealed. But even if it had meant getting my heart broken, I would have been glad it was you.

Despite our differences, you give it your all. With your reckless charm and your compassion you waltzed straight into my comfort zone and pulled me out of my perpetual overthinking. Never failing to remind me that I'll be loved for what I am.
I know it's a slow process of shedding my insecurities and the previous skins I squeezed into just to  please others. Painful for us both at times and yet you stayed. Every time. And I couldn't be more grateful for your unwavering patience, your unconditional love and your acceptance. What I can give in return feels almost insignificant and it will never be perfect either. But I promise to try each day, for you, for us, to cherish you and remember how I found heaven in your arms.

You're all I ever wished for. Before you, love seemed like a pretty but useless endeavour. And now, it feels as natural as breathing to me.
