Description
Name: Choi San
Birthdate: July 10, 1921
Age: 100
Role: Vampire
Occupation: Financial Donor
Personality: San is somewhat of a recluse, at least when he isn't busy working. He knows how to network and socialize but tends to be quite awkward outside of those situations. He's straightforward and blunt, as he always has been, although he may not always voice just what he's thinking. He doesn't bother with romantic relationships and has never truly made an effort to form one, even those that could possibly benefit him in the public eye, such as to promote a project or endeavor. Only the family that he lives with now knows how he truly is, which is tenderhearted, caring and tentative. He moves at a much slower pace and takes things as they come. When in a work-related situation, he's almost the complete opposite. He can seem rushed, uncaring and cold. To a degree, he can be, especially when working, as he focuses on his task and works to complete it before moving onto the next one. He stays busy and enjoys being busy. When he manages to get free time, he rarely leaves home, figuring that the world outside of it, outside of perfoming in some way, won't give him much to do anyway. He's as easy to please as he can be easily agitated. It takes a lot to anger him but not much to annoy him and he makes it obvious. Just as is he blunt with his words is he with his expressions.
Unique Characteristics:
¹Retractable Fangs: Self-explanatory
²Eye color change: Based on his emotion and hunger, his eye color will change from a darker brown to an icy silver-blue. The darker his surroundings are, it can appear that his eyes are glowing and that they're white. It starts at just the bottom of his irises, like a half-moon with the crescent facing up. The more strongly he feels something or the hungrier he is, the more his entire irises shift colors.
³A special tattoo: When he was younger and his tutor attacked him, the silver she used had burned different parts of his skin and, despite drinking her fresh blood to heal, he didn't heal entirely or properly. When his distant family brought him in, he was able to get markings over his arms and side that covered up what scars were left behind. (Right Ribcage/Torso Tattoo: x || Right Arm Tattoo: x)
Abilities:
¹Dreamwalking: His ability can awaken when he's physically near someone. Drinking from a blood bag, as he typially does, he can have a temporary link to that person's dreams while they are asleep. If he's had blood bags from the same person on more than one occasion, it can build a bit of a stronger link, allowing him to see their daydreams as well. Drinking from a person directly will grant him a much broader and stronger connection to the individual. Such an action would allow him to easily see their dreams, nightmares and daydreams. It gives him a stronger link to the individual's subconscious, allowing him to also feel and sometimes hear what hides in the person's subconscious. It can be extremely overwhelming sometimes, hence why he had the killing spree he did when he was younger as he'd had too much blood from too many diffrent sources and was hearing and seeing things that weren't of his own mind.
²Emotion sensing: It ties in very strongly with his dreamwalking ability. The only difference is that he doesn't have to drink from someone to get an idea of everything that they are feeling. Just as with dreamwalking, his ability is heightened in connection with a particular individual should he drink from them. When he'd lost his mind for a short spell when he was younger, it was strongly due to the mixture of fear, rage and brokenness he could feel in some of them. It was heavy and made matters much worse for him, drawing him out of his mind until his family collected him.
*Notes: ¹Due to the fact that he doesn't have telepathy, he will not hear one's conscious thoughts. What he taps into is their subconscious, both intentionally and unintentionally; although, it's usually the latter. This simply means that, although he may not hear what's at the forefront of someone's mind at the moment, should they daydream while physically near him, he may be able to see, hear and feel what they do. Typically, it's fleeting emotions and pictures but, should one feel any one emotion strongly (anywhere from anger to sadness to joy) or be daydreaming about something they long for (anything from opening a restaurant or a crush they have on someone they saw once to the images of a lost lover), he will get much clearer glimpses and emotions from them.
²If his bond, both by blood and emotion, is very strong to an individual, he has the ability to sharpen a dream or daydream, more so if that person is physically near him. And even more so if they are physically touching somehow. It's one reason he's cautious about being intimate with anyone as he could end up seeing, hearing and feeling things from the other that are hidden with good reason or that he just feels he'd have been better off not knowing.
Backstory: San was born a vampire into a prestigious family bloodline. Hidden in plain sight for centuries and for generations, his family has ranged from celebrities in the wide spectrum of fine arts to inventors, investors and scholars. Something else his family was incredibly good at was keeping their family ties a secret, unless it was deemed necessary otherwise. That being said, being in the public eye, his family was known for keeping their young a secret until deemed old enough and, more importantly, mature enough to handle what came along with being the child of someone famous, even more so without announcing to the world just what they are. Uninterested in floating around in the public eye, San kept to staying at home and being tutored by professionals of various fields. He'd been fed with blood bags for much of his life.
It wasn't until one of his tutors, a human tutor, wanted to test her theory of the family being vampires. San hadn't had too much interaction with humans, at least as far as he was aware. He could smell the difference but it didn't faze him. This one particular tutor had cut herself on purpose, the fresh blood messing with the young vampire's senses. She urged him that it was okay if he wanted a taste, that she wouldn't tell anyone. He believed her and fell into her trap. She ended up attacking him, tearing at his arm and side with silver knuckles. She was a hunter in disguise, her clan just longing for proof before attacking the family. San's family subdued her before she could escape, giving her to San as her fresh blood would help him heal much faster. When the hunter didn't return to her clan, even more attention was drawn to San and his family. Rumors started to spread about how they were vicious killers that wanted to end the human race, which wasn't true at all and their fans and supporters didn't believe such claims either. The hunter clan grew angry that they couldn't rally support and initiated an attack anyway, which became the birth of San's bloodlust. Fresh blood, riled up with adrenaline, was like a drug to him, and he found himself lost, far from home. He felt unsatiated, even after all the hunters he'd had to feast on. Something about having that fresh blood, something he'd never had, messed with him and he ended up on a dazed killing spree, tearing through the area some ways away from his home until his family brought him back home. He ended up becoming the "Shadow," among other names, of stories built among and spread by the humans in the area. Though many hadn't seen him, the stories that were spread about him were mostly true. That this Shadow was a vampire that longed for fresh human blood and no one ever lived to say what he looked like. Those that managed to catch glimpses of him only saw him as a shadow as it seemed he was there for an instant and was gone just as quickly, and his retractable fangs made it that much harder to tell who the culprit was.
When the killings stopped, the stories died down, although adults still passed the stories around to scare their children into behaving. In the meantime, his family had opted for hiding and locking him away within an underground, basement type home that they built for him, returning him to his diet of blood bags. It worked for a while but the remnants of the hunter clan that had attacked their family before had rebuilt just enough manpower to launch an attack again, although much more thought out this time. The planning ended up working to their benefit. Most of the family he lived with at the time had been slain. Distant family came to fetch him, initially not telling him the entirety of what had happened out of fear for how he may react. When they eventually told him, he made the choice not to lash out, as that wasn't how he'd been raised and it was part of the reason why things had taken the turn they had to begin with; even though, at the time of him fighting against the hunter clan, his whole family had been involved and what had been self-defense at the start had turned into something of a poison that almost made him a monster for the rest of his life. San had also never been raised to harbor ill feelings toward the humans, including the hunters.
As it stands now, he holds a guilt in his chest, mostly sorry for the trouble he'd caused his own family. Admittedly, part of him does feel guilty for the lives he took, although not those of the hunters that rallied against his family. A hefty portion of the money that he inherited, as well as his own income, is donated to the blood farm for the sake of him needing the blood bags he receives from them. He's uneasy about drinking directly from a human and doesn't have any intention on doing so anytime soon, and it's been decades since he last has. He's a bit of a celebrity now himself, working as an entertainer in the wealthy pockets of society.
