Since then, his brothers believed that he could never be able to learn to please a woman due to him being a cripple from the waist down. The rumor spread through their village and the thought haunted Ivar for years. It was until he met the shieldmaiden, Thyr, that he truly was able to love a woman. Thyr took it upon herself to lay with him and show him how different the night would be with someone he loved. Since that night they were inseparable. But that joy came to a halt when three months later Thyr suffers a miscarriage. Ivar consults with the seer as he feels guilty for the loss of his child. Freyja's test to Ivar is to rid himself of his built-up anger that he holds onto by taking him with settling new land for himself without causing a war.
