Born in Honolulu, Hyuka spent a very brief time there before visiting family in South Korea and then moving to China with his parents and older sister. By the time he was eight, Hyuka moved to South Korea and has stayed there ever since. In his childhood, Huening's parents parted ways and while his father resides in America, he and his sisters with their mother are based in South Korea still.

It's been a few years since Kai has debuted in the group Tomorrow X Together and as the maknae, he plays role of peacekeeper. Though he is extroverted and can be loud, these are sides he mostly shows those he has known for a longer time and is more comfortable around. Kind and gentle, he has a huge fondness for plushies and shows love through several love languages.

While he still has a lot to learn about the world, Hyuka greets each day and challenge with much enthusiasm, a gentle giant who has a heart he keeps quietly tucked away for safety.
