background
❛ If anyone were to ask Jaehyun about how his upbringing was, he would say it was pretty normal. or at least whatever standard of normality seemed befitting for his definition of it. Born to two sweet, loving parents — a mother with a flare for arts n crafts and baking [the evidence of her passion always left behind as the days near an end] and a father with a knack for fixing and building things [always finding solace in the way his work came together despite how tired it often rendered him whilst also finding time for his family] have been nothing but supportive and loving ever since he could remember.

📘ip dip do, I choose you.
if there was anyone else Jason adored other than his family members, it was you. his first friend, his first partner in crime, the first person he’d turn to for every woe and joy and the one he grew up sharing many first experiences with. And as much as he would rather break a bone or two than admit it out loud, you were his person. like two peas in a pod, it was hard to find Jason without you by his side and vice verse. If that wasn't enough, his parents adored you too [sometimes more than their son, he’d grunt], easily dismissing him to pamper you instead. perhaps he might need to reconsider 😔

📘 what's your pick of the day?
if Jason isn’t preoccupied with busy coaching schedules or taking pictures, then he’s most likely to be hiding away in one of the bookstores scattered around LA, crouching quietly with his nose buried deep in a book. That’s exactly how you find him one rainy Wednesday afternoon during one of your visits, freshly printed book between his palms and the thinly framed glasses barely hanging on the bridge of his nose. Perhaps it was a coincidence when you find him there again a week later but wait— he’s there the week after and the next and again. a week becomes a month of seeing him. same spot. different book. Curiosity piqued, you decided to approach him, a tentative smile on your face and a book in hand. Is it a start of an unlikely friendship?

📘 to meet, to not meet...
growing up, Jason always knew words were never his best quality. More often than not, he would find himself struggling to express himself and his thoughts so when his teacher, one Monday morning, decided they all had to write a letter to someone unknown, Jason felt immense terror. he dreaded the idea of having to think about what to note, nibbling away nervously, fingers tightening around the pencil. does he say hi? write about himself? what should he ask? how does one even write a letter? horrible, he thought the whole thing would end up as a disaster until…it didn’t. first letter came, and then a second, and then a third. it became a thing before he knew it, trading letters back and forth with you, someone he never met up front. the words that once felt difficult, running, almost slipping past his fingertips and onto the paper with ease. perhaps it wasn’t the worst idea his teacher came up with? a decade of friendship, same city, no hangouts; do we meet up or stay hidden behind letters?
