⋮　the first breath: joseon dynasty

• jo miyoung. born in 1409. she was the first born to the crown princess.
• bad enough that she was born a girl and the first child, her twin brother came
  to the world exactly 49 seconds later.
• her father originally wanted to dispose of her, twins were never a good omen anyway
  but her mother pleaded and so, she was allowed to live but was exiled from her family 
  and the main castle her whole life.
• her brother always sneaked out and visited her, and for the most part they had a good relationship.
• she had developed a crush on the guard's son, and one day she pleaded with her brother to change attires
  so she could attend the annual summer festival with her beloved. 
• someone told his majesty that they had witnessed an atrocity: the young crown prince, kissing another man
• when discovered that the 'prince' was actually the princess, she was sentenced to death the following morning
  at the crack of dawn.

⋮　the second breath: north korea

• nam hwayoung. born in 1969. the youngest of four in the nam family.
• the nam family was well connected in the north korean government, her father being a retired general, 
  now an assembly man and asset to the government while her older brother was currently serving in the military.
• her mother was also an educated woman, having studied mathematics. they were the picture perfect family, or
  so it seemed. her father was deeply devoted to his country and could see no reason, her mother was not blind
  to politics.
• under the guise of a family trip, she had taken hwayoung, her youngest and her older sons, changsu and ilhoon to flee to south korea.
• they were captured after her eldest son, ilhoon, loyal to his father and his country ambushed them.
• hwayoung, taeil and their mother, aera, were not spared. all three were deemed traitors and sentenced to death by hanging.

  jinah has little to no recollection of her former lives. it comes in snippets, rarely, and she passes them off as just
  scenes she may have seen in a drama or a movie. she's not a huge believer of reincarnation anyway.
