Background: Jinyoung was always an upstanding type of kid. Didn't want trouble and didn't ask for it. He took the blows as they came and didn't complain or fight, even with the rough cards that life liked to deal him. When things got really bad though, they were really bad. It didn't help that he and his family lived in an area where the gangs in the area only seemed to care for those that paid them, even if they didn't owe them anything. That meant that his parents paid, and constantly, for protection just to keep themselves and their son alive, and that was on top of making just enough money to keep food on their table. After all, living in the East wasn't exactly a breeze.

When both of his parents grew sick, he wasn't sure what to do as he was still a young teen at the time. Just getting to school some days was a task in itself, let alone just making it out of their neighborhood into the next one. It was unfortunate for others but a silver lining in the dark for him when there happened to be a street brawl in his neighborhood one day. One specific man seemed to hold a form of authority as he calmed the mess happening in the streets, demanding that they stop for the sake of the children in the area. Jinyoung was more confused though by the fact that this man, who didn't seem all that much older than him, was more focused on mending the wounded and getting them out of the area as quickly as possible. Jinyoung quickly connected that this man had to be a doctor of some sort. He waited for as long as he needed to just to get a chance to talk to him. The teen was beyond grateful for the older male hearing him out, the doctor accepting Jinyoung's request to see and help his parents if he could.

It lasted for a few years where the doctor would make regular visits to check on Jinyoung's parents and also keep an eye on Jinyoung as well. It started to feel like this man was apart of the family, and Jinyoung consiered him as such as well as the young boy's parents. One day, Jinyoung was on his way back from school in the West, a connection the doctor had gotten for him. His parents were already dead from not having had enough money to pay the gang to leave them alone and the killers were still there, searching through things to loot. Jinyoung spotted them first and was soon snatching a knife from the kitchen. This was the last straw. No longer would he just take whatever life threw at him. No longer would he just sit back and watch.

His attack started with a simple slit of the throat to the first one he came across. The second one he wasn't going to let go that easily. He took his time, putting what he was learning in school and what he'd learned from the doctor to use. He took his time in essentially dissecting the second killer, removing every piece of him that he could that wouldn't kill him instantly until the man's body had finally shut down. Jinyoung ended up treating the other killer similarly, although that one was already dead. He ended up bagging up their bodies and simply tossing them out like everyday garbage.

With his parents, he let the doctor take their bodies into the West, where they had a very small service with just him and the doctor. Jinyoung had heard about a service where the ashes could be turned into beads and now always wears a bracelet made of the stones, having given one to the doctor as well.

After the service, the doctor stopped coming to the East and Jinyoung took a break from school. He spent the next couple of years on the run as he'd caught the attention of the gang with the way he'd slice and dice them and not look back. It got to the point that he ended up catching the attention of the leader of the Crimson Vipers, although he's sure this wasn't the only gang he'd caught the attention of. Kino began offering him money to remove organs for him to sell. Jinyoung didn't initially want to take the jobs, having wanted to do good like his mentor had, but he needed to find a new way to put himself back into school and the money was too good to deny.

Although he now primarily resides in the West and has started going back to school there, he does come to work in the East and keeps it strictly business no matter who he's working for. He still considers the doctor family, even though the older is now a literature professor at the university Jinyoung attends. They live together in the West and, although the professor isn't that much older, Jinyoung protects and provides for him. All the while, he makes sure to keep his life in the East a secret from him.
