born in manhattan, new york, sunghoon had took up the hobby of figure skating at a young age. at first it was just something to do, something to help combat his ever growing bursts of energy. by the time he was 8, his interest had took him and his family to seoul, south korea, where he competed and trained as a professional figure skater. some would say that he became obsessed; the high that he'd get when he placed first in competitions, the hours he spent practicing and berating himself when he couldn't land a move the way he envisioned. sunghoon was sure the lows he experienced when he wasn't ranked in the top three weren't normal, but he couldn't find it in himself to stop it.

at 17, sunghoon moved from seoul and finished high school in nowhere town, where he now attends nowhere university.
