chapter one

Khadija Ndiaye was born in Brussels, Belgium to Sengalese parents who immigrated to the country after her father accepted a job there as part of a prestigious criminal defense law firm. From the day she entered the world, Khadija was taught to love herself and respect fellow man as both her parents were deeply concerned with social matters and civil rights. While her father defended many of those who were falsely accused or in desperate need of help to get out of a life of crime, her mother became an advocate as the woman started a small non–profit organization for POC rights amongst local brussels communities.

Though she enjoyed her childhood to the fullest and kept on the optimistic side of change, it was inevitable that she still faced discrimination from ignorant fellow students and their families spreading hate like a disease. She was always proud of her parents for taking on a seemingly impossible mission to help people like themselves, the constant legal woes and advocacy meetings grew overwhelming for a young girl just trying to find her own place. That's when she turned towards music and began producing amateur songs of her own using garageband on her laptop and a cheap microphone to record her raps.

At just fourteen years old, Khadija had her head in the clouds of performance as she grew obsessed with hiphop and the fast growing sensation of Kpop. She begged her parents to enroll her in dance classes, soon teaching herself choreographies and joining a dance crew. At the same time she began uploading her music online to various streaming and social platforms, including Kpop covers. With time the young teen grew a very small following of fans who all encouraged her to pursue a professional career.

Dreams of rapping and dancing on stage mulled in her heart for years, instead choosing the "safe" option and following in her parents' footsteps. At eighteen she accepted a scholarship to L'université Saint–Louis Bruxelles and spent four years majoring in law with a specialty in human and civil rights. Despite having an internship at the law firm her father worked for, finding a sense of pride in the work they did, Khadija still wasn't totally satisfied. There was a hole in her chest where only music could fill.

Finally she gained courage to audition for multiple entertainment companies via online video submissions, often being denied for not having "the look" they wanted. No matter how many times she was rejected, she stayed determined and eventually passed Sunrise auditions at the late age of 23. At first her parents couldn't understand why she would throw away a potential blossoming law career for such a huge risk, yet Khadija packed her bags and moved to Seoul promising to prove them wrong. Taking on the stage name "Diva", she's been training ever since 2018. She also continues producing songs and beats in her spare time or DJing at clubs.
