theo choi's life starts with blood. 

 

well. 

 

perhaps that isn't entirely true, but the life that theo choi remembers starts with blood. an aching pain in his neck, a dim awareness of someone lifting him off the ground; there are no lights and sirens but the taste of metal is acrid on his tongue, and something hot slides down his neck, the scent of iron heavy in the air. 

 

the days that follow are blurred by pain and by heat, with brief moments of lucidity laced between. his sire is a very contrite alpha who refuses to touch him, to give him some form of relief from the aching. he says that he's done enough harm, that he's already gone too far to forgive. it's nonsense to the baby omega lost in his first heat.

 

he survives it, even though it hurts. when he comes out on the other side and has clarity, he doesn't even remember his own name. he remembers nothing from before waking in a pool of his own blood. the alpha that had turned him names him theo, tells him that the omega had run out in front of his car. theo was once a human, but the impact had been enough to cause fatal injuries and the alpha hadn't wanted to watch him die... he turned him to save him. 

 

it doesn't feel much like saving. two years roll by and theo suffers his heats without suppressants and without help. sometimes he thinks his sire wants him and other times he thinks his sire wants him far away. theo has attitude problems and they fight often, until the omega decides it's finally time to leave. he waits for his sire to leave, packs a bag of the few belongings he has and runs away. 

 

and it's hard. he has no identity and struggles to find work while living on the street, but eventually, a ty restaurant is willing to take labor they don't have to pay the legal rate, and a bar allows him to sing at night. and it's not perfect, but it's good for a little while; until he's fired from both jobs, and forced to take drastic measures and work for the wrong people after seeing something he shouldn't have seen.
