rhys had always been well off, growing up in a wealthy, god-loving family. exceptionally smart as a child, it wasn't surprising (to him at least) that he learned a knack for magic. books he had discovered, hidden away in the depths of his family heirlooms, became child's play really. he had expected light magic to be his calling, as that's what seemed common in his family tree for those who pursued magic, yet there was a particular itch dark magic seemed to scratch. he kept his studies under wraps, even after he had been appointed as asulas' prince. he developed a pseudonym "sylva" that he would go by within the sacred circle and when interacting with other supernaturals. sylva really was more of a separate persona than just a pseudonym as rhys would continue to play the princely part he had been assigned. kind under the name rhys and a bit bloodthirsty under the name sylva.
