Description
| faceclaim name : park sooyoung (joy/redvelvet)
| oc name : han bada
| age & dob : 27 & september 3, 1996
| occupation : local news reporter (airs on a local hanbit station only)
| orientation : heteroual
| short bio : bada was raised by her grandma (or who she thinks is her grandma) in hanbit after being abandoned by her parents. despite not having parents, she grew up to be a happy free spirit who loves the town, culture, and nature of the town. there's nothing she loves more than running barefoot on the grass and the sand and feeling the waves crash over her legs. her bright personality had her scouted by the local broadcasting station when she was young as the town's cute little weather girl who grew up into the town's newscaster (she was also briefly the town's college student for a few years when she commuted to university for a broadcasting degree)
| hanbit news : hanbit news is broadcasted on local channels from the hanbit broadcasting station (which is a small two story building that rents out office space downstairs to accountants and counselors). the station is cluttered and dirty, but the staff has been together through thick and thin. hanbit news gathers funds through local advertisements (mostly geared toward elders), fundraising events, and grants. the broadcasting station is often in the red, but the staff continues to work for the town's sake. without public grants, they wouldn't be standing and there'd be nothing to watch at the hanbit clinic. :( everyone, please support your local broadcasting station and tune in when you can, okay? hanbit news — you've been listening to han bada!
| childhood : bada grew up in hanbit surrounded by grandmas and grandpas, adopting their rough personalities between her sweet sunshine demeanor. growing up, she always felt different from the other kids who had parents and it's a factor that she still feels insecure about, but her grandma has always been there to yell at anybody who would make her feel lesser. when she was young, bada appeared on the local news often as hanbit's cute little weather girl and she would grow up in front of the camera to charm all the grandma and grandpas with her sweet smile. bada spoke (and still speaks) in a heavy hanbit dialect, giving the news station a distinct hanbit feel. when she was in high school though there was a whole segment of bada trying to learn how to speak in a standard seoul dialect so she could have opportunities outside of hanbit, but we all know she never ended up leaving.
| education : bada did all of her early education in hanbit, with only her college degree being received outside of town at the local university. for bada, that was foreign and scary enough to cling to home. it was difficult for her to speak without her dialect with classmates who'd never heard of hanbit and she spent all four years making the decision to stay in hanbit. her degree wasn't just for her, but for all of hanbit. higher education gave bada resources to improve hanbit's broadcasting station and she's now using any knowledge she can to make sure hanbit's broadcasting station will continue to grow and prosper.
| hobbies : bada loves to play baduk! she's not the best at it but she's sneaky and enjoys duking it out with grandpas over cheating, this, of course, applies to hwatu as well. bada also enjoys the rewarding nature of gardening, taking over most of her grandma's garden because her hips and back aren't as good as they used to be. not so much of a hobby, but bada is well versed in traditional korean medicinal herbs and prepares a healthy soup for her and her grandma to begin every morning. when she's alone, bada enjoys painting. it's a hobby she doesn't delve into often, but it's a helpful creative outlet for her to feel at peace when she's stressed. not so much of a hobby either, but she also enjoys passing down old stories to little kids that were told to her as a kid from the elders in town. although bada doesn't have parents, hanbit feels like her family. she carries so much of hanbit's history within her like a sponge and she hopes to grow old in the town and pass on everything she knows to the next generation and the generation after that.
