his past.
 ⤿ growing up as a mermaid
- raised in the deepest part of the ocean off of south korea's coast
- little to no light, no human contact
- life was peaceful until deep sea adventurers started expolring and meddling with the siren cove
- a lot of what happened is a mystery to him, it all happened so fast, so sudde
- all he really knows is there were a lot of dead people, friends and family and enemies alike, and that if he didn't leave he would be next
 ⤿ sustained an injury to his tail fin, something he didn't really think about in the moment or for years
- with no idea where to go, he just swam... and swam, and swam, until the light was blinding and he broke the surface of the water
- exhausted, he fell unconscious after finding a nice little rock in the darker part of the cave he found himself in
- when he next awoke, the sun was too much so he ended up going deeper underwater again, but not really leaving. this was safe, and he had nowhere else to go
- come nighttime, he poked his head above water again, only this time to notice someone, and they most definitely noticed him
- though he wasnt naturally an aggressive creature, the fear and adrenaline from his past had him acting differently; hyuka resembled what he would call "the monsters" that took his home from him, and he was scared
- at first he lashed out, sharp nails meeting skin and he retreated out of fear, and it took some time before he was able to be coaxed back up

- between patience and learning to trust (food based rewards worked best, much like a pet) soon he became more open

his present.
 ⤿ where he is now
- does not remember much of his original home and life before coming to land
- only discovered his siren abilities later on in life. with no contact with humans early on in life, he had no idea how it worked
- was encouraged to become an idol due to his singing abilities
- slowly became more trusting of humans and other people in general, especially once he learned more about the others
- started to see txt as his family, the only real family he had, and was very fond and protective of said family
 ⤿ after everything, it became very hard for him to trust people, almost reverting back to his old ways
- does not really miss his old family/home, mostly because he doesnt remember anything
- occasionally will have nightmares regarding the situation, but its not often

his abilities.
 ⤿ what he can do
- needs a spell in order to hide his tail and finds it annoying so doesnt do it often
- can switch between either form (siren vs human) at will
- water triggers his tail appearing. his legs have to be fully submerged in water or fully wet.
- naturally white-blond hair due to where he grew up
- sheds his scales every few months. this usually falls along the same time as what "mating season" would be for him, therefore he is more sensitive during these times
- has sharp teeth that he can retract to be more humanlike at will (definitely scares others playfully with the sharp teeth)

- his eyes are naturally really light, almost white, so he has to wear contacts or have a spell to hide said color
- singing is often melodic and tends to put people in a trance
- uses it more to call people to him rather than for malicious intents (for example, if in earshot he'd call for one of the members to bring him a snack via singing their name)
- can draw people to him even just by humming

 ⤿ other general things about him
- known to be more on the quiet side
- big foodie, always seen munching on something
- actually loves water
 ⤿ however: due to the injury during his escape as a young siren, he can still swim, but when he gets to deeper waters the fin-injury (yes i almost wrote finjury) makes it essentially impossible for him to continue swimming. he simply cannot get momentum and move.
- sensitive to long exposure to sunlight and fluorescent lights in general
- used to be very closed off but has grown to be more open in general (still unsure about absolute strangers but he's having a more human reaction more recently)
- one of the softest, sweetest boys ever
- is much more intent on giving than receiving (in multiple senses)
- initially was very mistrusting of humans due to his past but definitely has gotten better now
