dove's mother was a witch. well, as close to a modern witch one could get. she owned a small mystic shop, selling various magical artifacts, gemstones, incense and candles, and offering psychic readings. one day, a man with long dark hair came into the shop. he did not speak much, spent a lot of time inspecting the crystals, looking at herbs before eventually leaving. this dark haired man would come back every so often, buy a few small things, quietly strike up a conversation with dove's mom, then leave. she didn't know where he came from or why he stopped by so often, but something about him pulled her in. the two would eventually go out on a couple dates and he opened up more and more. after being together for 4 years, dove was born. 

Dove has no memories of her father, with him leaving when she was 4 years old. her mother would often tell stories of how loving and sweet he was, and whenever dove would ask if she would meet her father someday, her mom would smile and say "when the time is right." 

school was difficult for dove, much like other demigods. in her teens, she would deliberately bleach her hair blonde to distance herself from her father's dark hair. it was during high school that her mother fell gravely ill - it was cancer, and she didn't have much time left. dove did everything she could; she offered prayers, offerings, burned incense to the gods and everything fell on deaf ears. when her mother passed, dove inherited the mystic shop and she closed it down, she couldn't bear to keep it open. 

at the funeral, a man was standing in the back. he had long dark hair and dove felt a pull to him. after 15 years, it was her father, hades, come to reunite with her. however, the reunion was not a happy one. dove was infuriated with her father for abandoning her and her mother, for letting her mother die. amidst her cursing and her swearing, her body began to glow with a purple flame and she broke a tombstone. hades recognized his daughter's power that day, claiming her as his own - even if she wasn't ready to forgive him. 

dove soon closed her mother's shop, moving all the magical items into storage. as she was packing up the store, she noticed two obsidian colored objects glimmering. they were two daggers made of stygian iron, gifts from her father. "Protect yourself. And go to this address." was all that was said on the attached note. following the instructions was what led her to camp halfblood.

during her time not at camp, dove can be found bartending and sometimes performing at a nightclub and lounge called the velvet room.
