Jungkook was lost for a long time. Never really sure what he wanted to do. Coming from a rather conservative family, with a slight over – controlling and abusive father and a mother deprived of any voice, intimidated and extinguished. Firstly, blindly following the rules, too scared to speak up, later shyly questioning social norms, and behavior, and in the end, openly fighting for his rights, rejecting everything he was taught and going against norms, and rules.
At the age of seventeen, hitting the street, as homeless, beaten and bleeding but victorious and free. The next year he spent in basements or on friends' sofas or in shelters. Was this easy? Oh, hell no. The street taught him a lot. Maintaining his grades and working part-time, trying to save up as much as he could. Yet, Jungkook was smart. Brilliant. He got into a scholarship program, at first picking up psychology because who can help better than a person who has been through hell. Yet later he switched into psychiatry, which he found much more interesting, and still working part-time, until the university offered him a residency and the possibility of a PhD in his senior year.
He earned more and could still stay in the dorms, at least for quite some time. It was around this time that he developed an interest in oneirology, which he chose as the subject of his PhD. He grew confident when he finally found a stable ground, especially after renting his first, small flat. But it was his, and cozy. His appearance started to change as well.
Tattoos, piercing, style. Everything finally started to fit, and he no longer felt so lost. Which university found concerning because this wasn't a look of the professor of such a conservative unit. Yet, Jungkook paid it no mind. He was doing his job and he was good at it. Students loved him, and Mr. Jeon was always the one to get the best semester grades from students, working directly with the students' board and many scientific clubs. Which later turned to be the main reason he was allowed to stay. Because in a moving world, that started push towards tolerance, having an eccentric professor of psychiatry was rather praised.
