SEOUL NEWS REPORT.

In the past year alone crime rates have nearly doubled what they were in 2072. The categories with the largest increases include: robbery, assault, arson and murder. The government is facing severe backlash from the public for apparent negligence when it comes to stopping crime. Many police forces and politicians are under fire, especially recently with the new story of Lee Jaehyun's ongoing embezzlement investigation.

In response to this criticism the president has released this statement:

"We, as a nation, cannot and should not be forced to tolerate this mass increase in violators of the law. It is up to each and every one of us to stand up for what is good and right. You are not alone. Right now our employees in the defense sector are preparing to launch a program that will help eradicate crime from the streets of Seoul. We hope that with this new program, Seoul will once again serve as a beacon of hope and prosperity for not only the entire country, but the rest of the world."

The president later also came under fire for this speech, many citizens proclaiming that it is solely the government's job to protect them, and that they should not have to fear for their lives waiting for this new program to roll out. More news at six.

The year is 2101. Crime rates are at a staggering all-time high, with a large percentage of them resulting in death. Serial killers, home intruders and drug deals that have gone wrong are just some of the factors contributing to these numbers. In order to combat the crime now permeating the country, especially in the heart of the capital, a group of special individuals are laying down their lives in order to catch the perpetrators - literally. Working with a secret branch of the government and the local police these individuals are referred to as Project M.B. (Project Murder Banishment). To their colleagues, these individuals are simply referred to as MURDERBAIT.

MURDERBAIT is a roleplay set in a semi-futuristic and dark version of Seoul, South Korea. A top-secret government sector known as KAODO (Korean Agency of Defense: Omega) operates within the capital deep beneath the crime-filled streets. Project Murder Banishment (Project M.B. for short) was officially launched by KAODO fifteen years ago in 2086, but has been in the works for almost thirty years. Project M.B. was originally created by Dr. Song Lena after she discovered what KAODO believes to be the first immortal. A young woman in her early 20s had been hit by a car and died shortly after an emergency operation at a local hospital. Two days later she miraculously came back to life with none of the injuries that had killed her, and she walked out of a morgue unseen by the staff, and only caught on security camera.

From that day forward Dr. Song poured her time and research into finding this woman, and along the way discovered several other cases of miraculous recoveries. These people were brought to KAODO for observation, and eventually, after years of testing, studying and planning, Project M.B. started for form. In the year 2101 Project M.B. is in its prime. Multiple immortals, referred to as "murderbait," work under this project in order to assist the government with catching hard-sought criminals by using their immortality to their advantage.

These people purposely place themselves in the path of robbers, gang leaders and even serial killers, allowing themselves to be injured, maimed and even killed to catch these criminals in the act. Then the local authorities swoop in at the perfect moment to arrest and jail these people, while the "murderbait" regenerates minutes, hours or days after the event.

This roleplay focuses on the stories of everyone involved in this project, from the immortals, to KAODO, to the police force and even everyday citizens. It is up to them what direction the city will take.

You must earn five (5) points within the first twenty four (24) hours of joining. After that, please post at least once a week to remain active. This roleplay does not require you to be here all hours of the day, or to have high levels of activity. However, we also do not want anyone to hog a character from others or hold onto a character while clearly not participating in the roleplay. If you go inactive you will receive a warning, and if you do not respond within two days (48 hours) you will be removed from the roleplay. If you are removed you may request to have your character back, but if you go inactive again you be blacklisted from the roleplay.

MURDERBAIT.
Individuals who are essentially immortal. No matter how you kill them (stabbing, shooting, burning, crushing, gassing, poisoning, infecting, draining, exploding, etc.) they will always come back to life. Depending on the individual and the severity of the death they may come back to life within minutes, hours or days of when they died. After years of research it is believed that these people have a special gene in their DNA to cause their immortality. When all of the cells in their bodies die, something is triggered to start a massive regeneration. This will replace all dead cells with new, healthy cells as well as stitch together split skin, blood vessels, organs, etc. until the individual is back to their healthiest state. The only way to kill an immortal for good is through completely destroying the body, which can only be achieved by total incineration or vaporization.

POLICE.
Your typical police that work day and night to protect the city. At least, that's what they should be doing, but no organization is without corruption. You may find shady deals, cover-ups and more depending on the officers working at these stations throughout the city. In this roleplay there are three separate stations around the city that work with kaodo and have knowledge on immortals and project M.B. There is also a final police station that is not privy to this knowledge, and are simply regular officers. Positions within these stations will be listed in the "availabilities" room.

KAODO.
These are people who work for the KAODO sector of the government. This top secret branch is so highly classified that not even other government sectors are aware of it. The only people who know of KAODO's existence are the President, the head of the KAODO branch, all KAODO employees, all members of Project M.B. and select police stations within Seoul. Employees of KAODO are all highly trained professionals varying in many different fields, including: medical, science, engineering, technology, military, etc. If you choose to have a KAODO employee character they can be anything from a biochemist to an ex-military combat trainer. If you think they can benefit the defense of the country, they are likely to be allowed in the organization. if you are unsure whether a certain position would be allowed, please ask an admin for assistance.

Regular everyday citizens... or are they? If you choose to make your character a citizen they could be anything from a normal university student to a crooked politician, or a mega celebrity to a hidden-in-plain-sight serial killer. However, the only type of citizen not allowed is an immortal. This may be subject to change, but as of now the only immortal characters are MURDERBAIT characters. Your citizen cannot be a secret immortal, or someone unaware of their immortality. Citizen positions are also limited compared to other positions as the roleplay mainly focuses on those working in/with Project M.B.

sorry, occifer // police // donghyuck has had a few run ins with the law before, mostly for things like underage drinking at parties in high school and trespassing (without getting charged). six months ago he was brought in for something big - hacking into the city's security cameras, which could have lead to him serving some jail time that you were more than ready to give him. then he was whisked away by some government organization, never served a sentence and even got a fancy new job along with it. it irks you to the core. *your police character can either know nothing about kaodo, or be in on the kaodo operation.

short description ; ten years ago kim junmyeon was a rookie cop, but a traumatizing incident left him shaken to his core, and he quit the police force soon after. still wanting to work in a field that pursued justice he instead turned to a life of investigation. he works in close tandem with the police, but technically has his own private practice where he takes on cases from clients that reach out for his help in solving a crime. junmyeon has marvelous detective skills and a knack for peering into the minds of criminals, but he is completely unaware of the much bigger hidden secret in seoul (immortals, kaodo & project m.b.).

hyperspecific chanyeol x junmyeon relationship plot ;
might make a blog about this after the roleplay opens, but i would absolutely LOVE if someone would rp this with me. basically, junmyeon is a private detective and chanyeol is murderbait for kaodo. they meet for the first time while junmyeon is investigating what appears to be a case completely separate from kaodo, but the more he looks into it the more things don't add up. their first meeting ends up with him finding out about chanyeol's immortality, but chanyeol doesn't report this to kaodo. chanyeol is a bit unhinged, probably from the whole repeatedly dying and coming back to life thing, and it's a completely opposite personality compared to junmyeon's put together mask of calm. the two of them work together to solve a much deeper mystery about the truth of the immortals, and have this weird push-and-pull, ust-riddled, always on a knife's edge relationship which junmyeon refuses to admit and chanyeol doesn't put into words. in the end everything either explodes in flames or somehow works out. [ even more hyperspecific scene ideas include ; first meeting, junmyeon somehow gets trapped in an enclosed space with chanyeol's dead body while investigating on a case, only for chanyeol to come back to life several hours later (?) || far in the plot, chanyeol & junmyeon - while secretly working together on their case - and junmyeon being forced to watch as chanyeol is killed "in the line of fire" and pretend he doesn't know he'll come back to life, since he isn't supposed to know immortals are real, but it's so easy for junmyeon to pretend to grieve because he can't stop thinking about what if one day he doesn't come back || more to come ? ]
