It's late into the 51st century, and while humanity hasn't evolved as a species, technology has advanced far greater than anyone even expected. The latest edition? Something known as the Mainframe, a psychic link that connects everyone on the planet to each other. Instead of phoning someone (what is this? the 20th century?) you can simply talk into the head of whoever you need to contact, though you first need access to their psychic signiture. I'm sure the details would bore you, so don't bother asking questions.

Although...there is something a little peculiar about this worldwide connection. No one knows how it began, just that some scientist picked up on the wavelengths, and he built a system that transmitted it much more powerfully. It's not dangerous, certainly not, though it is to be directly associated with it. There's been plenty of murders around the true location of the Mainframe's supercomputer. Seems like everyone wants to get their hands on this technology for themselves. Discover it's secrets.

"death" is actually an all-consuming paralysis that freezes all bodily functions. the person that's "dead" is still conscious. they've been trying to get our attention for so long, and eventually that silent screaming formed itself into a psychic connection. we just don't know it. .
