the ahn family were no strangers to hardship. the duke and his wife had struggled conceiving their oldest son, hyunki. and the family was believed to be cursed. so when the couple were finally with child once more, they were immensely grateful. seo min, the duke's wife, struggled throughout the pregnancy, but the baby was developing on track. then came the night of delivery. it was a stormy night, the waves in the nearby ocean were high and crashing violently against the shore.  historic amounts of rainfall threatened to flood nearby fields, strong winds whipped the trees to and fro. and amidst the chaos of the storm, a miracle was born. ahn kyungmi, a shining beauty.

kyungmi was a miracle in more ways than one. physicians and shamans were surprised to find that the girl was born perfectly healthy - no physical or internal abnormalities that they could find. there was hope once more in the ahn family. perhaps the curse had been lifted. maybe, just maybe, the curse never existed. and she was proof that the years of strife were finally over. 

as kyungmi became older and started school, it became apparent that she was not the perfect daughter she was once believed to be.  her tutors all noted that the young girl struggled in her lessons. it was as if things would pass from one ear, and out the other. and she would talk throughout lessons, about subjects that had little to do with the lesson. perhaps the curse was not fully lifted from the ahns after all. 

in her teenage years, kyungmi began to attend social events as a representative for her family. her older brother, ever the introvert, did not enjoy attending parties. and her younger sister was often kept inside the estate due to her illness. it was through these events that she found her true skill; information on people. her idle pastime of gossiping about other members of high society proved well to help her navigate the sticky situations she often found herself in. but it was used sparingly, only if someone insulted her or her family. suddenly, the whole party would know the person's deepest, darkest secret. 

now as an adult, kyungmi is not much wiser than when she was a young girl. she spends many of her days shopping, enjoying the beach, sitting over tea with her group of friends. the businesses of her family are of little interest to her and very few trust her with that responsibility. but she is still the most public facing of the ahn siblings, bearing all the burdens that come with such a position.
