The Past

Brought together by their undying passion for cultures and traditions, Ryou was born to a pair that once seemed like star-crossed lovers. To his Korean mother and Japanese father, Ryou has been and always will be what his parents consider as their love coming to full fruition. Gifting their son a name meaning "refreshing," Ryou has always been as such. As soon as he could walk and form some semblance of verbal communication with others, he was always trying to make friends and just bring fun and joy to others' lives. 

As with what tends to happen in the teen years, as hormones run rampant, questions are being asked and new thoughts presented, Ryou's puberty journey gave him tons of ups and downs. It wasn't hard to do so either considering he typically attended international academies, thanks to his parents wanting to impart a hint of their passion on him. Ryou easily picked up the same love of diversity and connection. There were quite a few years where he found himself in international boarding schools, namely during the periods when his parents would be travelling yet again. Although he'd miss his parents whenever they were abroad, boarding school terms benefitted him greatly as he found it easier to make friends with those of both different and similar backgrounds. He was excited to learn about the world around him, the world he'd yet to see. The same world his parents always talked so fondly of.

At age 16, Ryou's life hit a bump that would give him emotional whiplash for years to come. It hadn't been too long before that Ryou had begun to realize that he was into guys, with his first real experience being with an older guy. Ryou's family had moved areas, bringing them closer to a new venture opportunity and putting him closer to a new academy. This particular older guy was someone he'd run into a few times until they were finally chatting and realized they'd hit it off quite well. Once everything was finalized with Ryou's transfer paperwork, he finally started his new high school, soon finding that this new boyfriend of his worked there as a teacher's aid. Ryou didn't mind it. For the sake of not causing any disruptions at his new school though, he had suggested it himself that they keep their relationship a secret, at least until he graduated, his boyfriend changed workplaces or decided to quit. Or both.

Ryou was incredibly thankful that his boyfriend was seemingly honest about everything. That was until one day when a random older woman approached him at school and made a scene in front of a large group of people, accusing him of being a homewrecker. He was confused and calmly explained to her that he didn't know who she was; neither did he know who or what she was talking about. He was sure that it had to be nothing more than a misunderstanding. When she mentioned his boyfriend's name, he still questioned if it was the truth. After all, his boyfriend had never mentioned seeing anyone, let alone being married, as this woman was claiming. It had gradually escalated and the woman was escorted out by security.

He finally got the chance to ask his boyfriend for the truth and he didn't deny Ryou, answering any and all of the younger male's questions. Ryou's boyfriend had proof that he'd been trying to get away from this woman for a long time, even showed Ryou that he had been trying to get her to sign divorce papers for a long time as well. The older wasn't that much older but clearly older enough that he was really dealing with something like this. His boyfriend wasn't sure how she'd even found his place of work, let alone how she found out about his connection to Ryou. Knowing that she had caused issues before though, Ryou's boyfriend decided that he would leave the school to work at another. He promised to keep in contact but that he would distance himself some for Ryou's safety, knowing it would be dangerous not to do so with his ex-to-be having found him again.

He had been right with the danger he'd sensed as this wife of his ended up coming for Ryou again when she couldn't get in touch with her husband. This time, she full-out blamed him of making the older male run. Ignoring her accusations ended up with her being escorted out again, only for her to wait for him as long as she needed in order to purposefully hit him with her car, clearly intent on killing him. Ryou has faint bits of memories from that day but mostly remembers waking up in the hospital bed and being greeted with the florescent lights above. His boyfriend had come to visit him as soon as he got the chance, begging for forgiveness but also making it clear that they wouldn't be able to see each other again for Ryou's sake. He would never forgive himself if Ryou died because of him. With a kiss to the forehead and one to the cheek, that also became the first time they shared a kiss on the lips. It was also when Ryou was sure he'd never hear of or see him again.

A full year had yet to pass and now Ryou was still in the hospital but had graduated to physical therapy and was going through rehabilitation. One day, his parents, who had genuinely adored Ryou's boyfriend and knew everything thanks to him never really hiding anything from them, reluctantly informed Ryou that his ex had committed suicide. Ryou didn't believe it at first, didn't want to believe it, but it had been confirmed. Ryou had begun to blame himself, for the older male's marriage falling apart, for his ex leaving a good job and now for his ex's death. It led to his own suicide attempt, which had been almost successful. He found himself waking up in a hospital room again but a much different one, as he was now as Lost Angels, where a second and, again, almost successful attempt took place.

He was doing well it seemed. He was now 17 and managing to interact with others without being under the watchful eye of an orderly. This was also when he first met Yunho and Yeosang for the first time as Yunho was an inpatient at Lost Angels as well as the same time. It took some time but Ryou began to wonder why he never really had visitors, had no one to check on him. One "friend" had come by at the request of the school, to drop off some paperwork at the front desk for Ryou, who just happened to see him when he was about to leave. The interaction hadn't been long but it was long enough for Ryou to find out that he no longer had friends at school, that many rumors had been started about where he went and all that had happened with his ex and his ex's wife. It didn't seem like the truth mattered to any of them. No one had bothered to ask for the truth. All the friends he'd worked so hard for, that he truly thought knew him better than that had revealed themselves. His mind began getting the best of him again, making him feel as though he had no support, with his ex gone and his parents traveling now for work. His third attempt was probably the closest he'd gotten to really ending it all.

He ended up being taken away from the main floor for a couple of months, under intensive watch. He was thankful that he was able to move around and socialize again, in time to see and hear about Yunho leaving the facility. He'd miss him but he was more than happy to know that meant that the friend he'd made was better. He took it as motivation that maybe he could get better, too. It also helped that his parents had decided to work more at home, being fully there for him and giving him all the support he needed.

Once out, he'd gradually picked up being apart of the party scene, mainly private parties and typically just with heirs of other big businesses in Japan. He eventually met Hongjoong this way, having met the other briefly but gradually getting to know him by inviting him to the parties and spending time with him that way. He was thankful because one of Ryou's so-called friends had tried to drug his drink one night and Hongjoong had caught him. He hadn't been in time to stop Ryou from drinking some of the tainted drink but he did get the guy caught and got Ryou help. It was yet again a time where Ryou woke up in a hospital bed, unsure as to what had happened.

From that day forth, Ryou latched onto Hongjoong and so did Ryou's parents, incredibly grateful to the young man that saved their son's life. At this point, anything that Hongjoong needs or wants, Ryou doesn't hesitate and his parents give him full approval to do so.

The Present

Over the years, Ryou has kept up with the party lifestyle but he's also strayed a bit away from just hanging out with the other heirs as he used to, for a number of reasons. The main reason he tells people is that "they just became different people" and he stands by that, even if he doesn't explain. A lot of them got heavily into drunks and drinking and some other things, to the point that it started to feel like he would end up an accomplice to something that could get him jail or prison time. Some of his current friends could make anyone question but they're also a lot safer and would truthfully do just about anything to keep him safe.

Wanting to make some side money of his own, not that his parents really want him to work or feel that he needs to, he decided to take up more quiet work so to speak. He's been in the adult video industry for a short time but, unsurprisingly, has already made quite a few good friends. He does videos for a company but also for some of his friends' creator pages on adult sites. His professional videos are with men but he the more private videos with his friends can vary. He's also recently applies to work at Silk Star, the host club near his house. He's excited to try something new but also make money as he's making friends.

Through meeting Hongjoong, Ryou was reunited with Yeosang and Yunho, who are thankfully close friends of Hongjoong's. He's aware that Yunho doesn't really remember when they first met and he doesn't bring it up, for both of their sakes.

Many people would not believe that he is actually shy because he doesn't let it show and he also wears his heart on his sleeve.
