Born to an old school traditional Catholic family he received his first name not upon his birth, but at his Baptism, where he was christened "Jude Yeo" and cleansed of his original sin.

Like most children to hyper-conservative Christian parents Jude had a sheltered childhood free from the outside influence of secular beliefs. His parents chose to enroll him in a private Catholic school and didn't even allow Jude to have his own phone until he was almost fifteen years old. Perhaps that was their mistake, since having access to the Internet is what started to finally broaden Jude's worldview from the tiny, suffocating prison his parents had built for him.

He discovered the endless expanse of music through that tiny phone screen: hip-hop, pop, rap, rock, dubstep - Jude wanted to listen to anything and everything he could get his hands on, and this is was just the beginning of his love for the craft. Of course, he was forced to keep this a secret from his parents.

Jude's parents wanted him to attend a Christian college, but there were no music production programs that offered what he wanted, and so he managed to convince them to allow him to attend a regular university. He promised to still go to church every Sunday, he would pray to the Lord every night before bed and he would only listen to spiritual and classical music; it would be fine! Again, a mistake on his parents' part, as Jude's newfound freedom in the adult public sphere was the last nail in the coffin to rip him away from their control.

— his code name started out as a joke. his friends would call him "golden boy" because he seems to be naturally gifted at anything he does (though a lot of it is his own hard work). in the area where he grew up there's an organization where you must register your mutant abilities to be on file by a certain age. he and his friends went together to register, and when he was paying attention one of them wrote "golden boy" as his code name on the form. he managed to cross out part of it thus making his code name just "golden"
— at the age of 19 he was approached at night walking home from a college party and handed an infant baby by a mysterious figure in black. he was told that the baby was his to care for until she was old enough to fulfill her destiny (many MANY more details to come, but tl;dr he has a nearly 5 year old daughter that may or may not also be prophesized to end the world lmao)
— his daughter is not biological, but she was never officially adopted, and so he claims she's from an ex-girlfriend as a cover story. she didn't have a name when she was given to him, so he named her charlie yeo / yeo jia (he calls her chucky or chickadee as nicknames). charlie is turning 5 in may and has yet to display any abilities of her own (that will be changing soon)
— [ tw: religion ] his parents named him "jude" after a figure in the bible said to be jesus' brother. however, the name "jude" can also be a shortened version/reference to judas iscariot, one of the twelve apostles and also the one to betray jesus before the last supper
— [ tw: religion used as a weapon ] when his family found out about charlie they disowned jude as they believed he had a child out of wedlock and was no longer "pure" for having before marriage. this separation from his family was a long time coming, so although it deeply hurt him, he did not fight as hard as he could have to explain the situation and remain in their good graces
— [ tw: religion ] his parents wanted him to attend a catholic college but jude wanted to pursue music production and no christian colleges had good programs, so he managed to convince his parents to let him attend a public university

a passive ability that gives him good luck in scenarios that involve chance/fate

ability to temporarily copy/mimic the abilities of other mutants through swallowing a part of them (blood, skin, hair, etc.)

+ karma (due to his near constant good luck every new moon he is hit with a large sum of bad luck which can manifest in different ways (loss of job, severe injury, sudden illness, etc.)
+ loss of self (when using his power mimicry ability he can quickly become overwhelmed by his own emotions as well as the lingering feelings and personality of the mutant whose powers he is mimicking)
+ superstitious objects & practices (if he breaks a mirror, opens an umbrella inside, sees a black cat, etc. it cancels out his good luck; in order to combat his karma effect (or when he just doesn't want his good luck to activate) he will engage in these superstitions on purpose, but the easiest by far is to write an unlucky number (4, 9, 13, etc.) somewhere on his body
