- he's currently the leader of a small party of survivors that wound up together due to being in the same place at the same time when the invasion started. his military past made him a natural leader, though disagreements on who should be in charge and what they should do next have already begun to crop up
- he grew up in ohio but when he joined the military he moved from place to place for several years before ultimately staying in new appleton after being assigned to guard the korean embassy located there
- bilingual, able to speak fluently in both english and korean
- by the time the invasion started he was no longer working at the korean embassy. instead, he was employed as a security guard for the blue bow falls museum, which didn't pay much at all (definitely not enough to get by, but he still had savings so he was (mostly) okay); the security job was something to do at least
- two weeks ago (when the invasion began) he was infected with an alien parasite that has already begun to alter his brain chemistry as it continues to grow into him; he is aware of this parasite but has not told anyone about it (putting everyone in potential danger since he does not know the effects of the parasite yet)
