Reno is a veteran member of the shinra electric company's special task force, the turks, led by tseng. reno has a cynical casual approach to his  duties, but is self-confident, proud, and professinal. Despite his outward enthusiasm reno has unresolved issues with his heartless nature of work. 

the way reno entered the place known as 'the afterlife', reno was confused not exactly sure what had lead him to be here. he hadn't recognized anyone and he felt a bit lost as to how to go about things. 

at first, reno had thought that he would reform his life and start fresh, perhaps attempt to do something that he wouldn't feel at much of a loss to do, but old habits die hard and when reno was recruited for some work by somebody, he had followed it. 

reno is a loyal character and values his relationship with anyone that he works with, while he hates that he doesn't have his former co-workers, he tries to build a new life here with more people that he can trust.
