background: daughter to a single mother, karina was born in america and raised in korea where she lost her hearing as an infant due to a very severe fever. she grew up scrutinized by her peers until she became one of the prettiest people in her town, beloved by all due to her sweet nature, looks, and good grades. after graduating she moved to the more populated city and struggled to find work as a deaf woman, eventually settling on going to back to school for esthetics and learning how to do things like facials, massages, wellness treatments, and beauty management. she began working at icarus as they are the first place to not have an issue with her deafness— maybe their willingness should have been the first sign something wasn't right. 
personality: a kindhearted, happy woman who does the best she can at her job and truly enjoys the work. despite being deaf she has a very loud personality and it shows when she signs or is around those she is close to. karina is a very easy person to get to know and is not afraid to approach people, deaf or not— she has an aid program that will speak the words she types out loud in a quick manner, eliminating the issue in communicating to those who may not speak sign.
