• Brief Backstory: It was safe to say that Elsie's whole life revolved around only two specific things: science and his twin brother, Willem. Ever since the petrification of humans 3000 years ago, the phenomenon on its own instantly became a fascination to the curious, star-eyed young Elsie. He would constantly ask Willem questions about the major event— as though he would have all the answers he was looking for even though he was a post-petrification human just like himself. That's just how they were, though. With no parental figures in their lives, all Elsie had as a form of guidance and inspiration was Willem. Even as he grew older, delved more into alchemy and herbalism, and could fend for himself, he would continue to look up to Willem as Willem would, in turn, protect and look after him. So one could only imagine what Elsie felt the moment he watched his brother fall to his death to save him from being killed by a ghoul. Till this day, Elsie heavily places the blame on himself for that event, the grief so immense that it drives him into dedicating the rest of his life to create an elixir that can bring his brother back to life without the need of a ghoul possessing his body.
